Hey, a Session IPA that I’m okay with calling it an IPA! (I would expect that from Mr. Wilson.) This had a hazy straw body with a respectable, sustained head. The aroma was about citrus hop scents - grapefruit and lemon zest mainly with mayhaps a touch of the floral. The flavor added some bready malt, a light grainy sweetness, and a solid (if not too strong) hop bitterness. As usual at this brewpub, the finish was very dry and had a lingering bitterness. Nice. On tap at brewpub in Orland Park. Pours a pale golden straw color with a two finger white head and some light spotty lacing. Aroma has a nice hoppiness with citrus rind and grapefruit, along with some pine, grass and a touch of pale malts in the background. Taste has a very light malt base and big hop flavorings that give an substantial bitterness to the beer. Taste follows the nose with grapefruit and lemon peel, some pine and a little bit of malt to balance things out. Light to medium in body with a moderate carbonation.

Mug club draft on tap at the brewpub (Orland Park, IL). A couple beers after some heavy wedding errands. Pours a richly golden orange hue, healthy dulled golden darker glow and body, firm haze, and a frothy whitish head sits atop, dies to a thicker ring and laces small. Aromas are a firm citrusy element, grapefruit and melon meet oranges, some lemon, touches of gentle tropical elements. Dry florals, grapefruit take the reigns with bits of bready pale malt, cirps and dry, some grass. Refreshing and freshly dry and hoppy. Initial is lighter bodied, true to it’s session name. Offering some crisp touches of grapefruit, florals, and lemons up front. Decent lemon, florals, grass, and a bit of prickly carbonation, thinner easier body hit the palate. Middle is bready, grainy. Cereal malts, crisp grapefruit, rind, and grassy and floral hops still jab through the middle. Touches of melon, faint white grape, as a thinner dry grainy backend and finish give some life. Grapefruit, florals, grass, mellow and easily approachable. A great summer APA/IPA hybrid with a thinner refreshing body yet some firm hop highlights throughout. It isn’t complex, but it’s tasty and quite enjoyable in the heat with a sufficient lingering dry citrusy hop feel keeping the beer going on the palate well after it’s over. Nice.
