At Bethesda location. A dark brown beer with a red shine underneath a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor is sweet malty and rather roasted combined with medium strength notes of chocolate and lesser notes of nuts. Nice. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - NOV 2, 2003

Nitro... Bethesda location... Pitch black ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Terrific retention. The nose is all cocoa, vanilla and smoke. The flavor is perfectly balanced with toasted malts, bitter cocoa and charcoal... numbs the tongue. Light bodied and very astringent with pillow-soft carbonation. Roasted, bone-dry finish. Nitro at the Bethesda location. Pour is a clear, deep ruby to deep cola red with a medium nitro brown head. Small lace. Aroma is smoke, ash, cherries, relatively muted. Taste milk chocolate, bitter, ashy, tobacco. Watery palate. Inoffensive. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 6, 2007
Nitro at the Bethesda location. Creamy light tan head, typical nitro stout appearance. Nose of light roast and cream, some egg and light char scents as well. Simple toast and milk flavors, typical Guinness clone recipe, but drinkable. Finishes thin and a just slightly dry/husky. chriso (7586) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 16, 2007
On tap (sampler) at the Bethesda location, July 2006. Vary dark colour - almost black and nearly opaque, with a thin beige head. Lots of chocolate in the aroma. More creamy chocolate in the flavour, with developing coffee notes and a dry, roasty malt backbone. Mouthfeel is on the light side but, overall, I thought it was a tasty and enjoyable brew.

On tap at RB – Milwaukee. Poured clear deep brown with surprisingly little head. The aroma picked up dry-roasted darker chocolates and coffee grounds.. deeper yet was some cola and caramel sweetness.. not much hop influence. Caramel and coffee sweetness in the flavor supporting dry chocolate and coffee bitterness.. the back found a bit of cola.. sweet and simple, but tasty. Very dry and lighter-bodied on the palate with a short finish.. wish it stuck around longer.
