Draft. Toffee malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Creamy caramel malt flavor with a light peppery finish. Very nice. tmoreau (4513) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - SEP 24, 2009
Mug Club served a clear amber, with a modest off white head that reduced quickly to a film and discipating lacing. The aroma was light altogether with a hint of yeast, toastiness, and a little sweetness. The flavor continued the touch of sweetness and toasted malt, and added a moderate hop bitterness and some noble flavor as the beer warmed. A medium bodied lager with a nice creaminess to the tongue and lightly dry finish. I believe that this was Greg’s first Marzen as Warrenville’s head brewer, resulting in a closer to style beer than past years. Therefore, no caramel or roasted qualities. kseecs16 (1216) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - OCT 10, 2008
Growler. Pours a dark crimson hued brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with some toasty character. A little bland with a dry finish, seems lacking in expected sweet body. Very dry, almost astringent finish. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 5, 2008
on tap at RB Warrenville. pours ruby with off white head. sweet malty aroma, caramel and toasted malts. flavor has some toasted malts, caramel sweetness. body is really thin and the flavor lacks any sort of depth. also, there isn’t really much of a hop character ot this at all.
