Draft at rock bottom Yorktown, pours jet black with creamy dark tan head. Aroma has dark chocolate, espresso, vanilla, with soft bourbon caramels. Flavors of dark chocolate, figs, iced coffee, vanilla, hints of bourbon and port with charred ashy barrel that finishes. Body is a bit thin, alcohol is in check. A limited treat that was served during the Grampfenpils Tapping at RB Yorktown. No commercial description was offered on the chalkboards or the menus, just a 5:30PM tapping time on the invitation, and an abv confirmation at the event. Viscously dispensed to a snifter with a dark, black/brown hue, a long lasting head of brownish tan, moussy cream, and very coating, curtainy lacing. The aroma was rich & roasty malt, decadent chocolate, creaminess, some dark fruit and sweetness, and bourbon presence. Softly carbonated, and full bodied, the flavor was similar notes, also contributing medium hop bitterness, smooth but warming alcohol, and just a touch of dark fruit tartness. A strong but dessert-like brew across the board that was thoroughly enjoyed! Maybe add ice cream?
