This beer’s aroma smells like rye with a hint of sour fruit, and the appearance fuses a hazy dark orange color with a small white head. Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma is a nice spicy rye with a big peppery nose. Flavor is again an ok spicy rye malt with some floral notes and finishes with a nice earthy malt. I’m not sure rye is a good malt to use in a saison as the spicyness of it takes over the pepper and mustyness the yeast gives off. Sampled at Augusta Bottoms Beer Fest - Pours hazy orange with a sudsy off-white head. The aroma has a fruitiness along with sugar, light toast and a buttery aspect. The body is light and crisp with a bit of prickly carbonation. The flavor starts off with earthy saison yeast, huskiness, butter and some bugginess. The finish is dry and some some diacetyl. Fair. Tried this on tap at The GABF 2012. Spicy citrus, fruity aroma. Notes of spice from the pink peppercorns, citrus fruit from the French yeast. A nice saison.
