A hazed golden ipa with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, complex citrusy hopped up exemple, mandarine, biscuit malt, very nice. In mouth, a nice fruity malt with floral hops, orange zest, smooth and quaffable yet exciting. Atheist_Peace (981) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAY 21, 2013
Cloudy orange pour with fairly minimal head. Huge fresh citrus fruit on the nose with a piney note. Solid bitter crunch on the palate without leaning into astringency. Big citrus character. jdobbs (411) - New Brunswick, CANADA - MAY 15, 2013
Our west coast style India Pale Ale screams hop flavour and aroma with an amazing candy-like oily balance. Delicious hop-forward notes of citrus, grapefruit pith and pine meld together as one with malty undertones finishing with a long, lingering draw. A fabulous pairing with all things spicy or cheesy, poultry or fish dishes. nick146 (18) - St. John’s, Newfoundland, CANADA - APR 21, 2013
On tap at Rockbottom Brewpub in Halifax. Pours an amber-red colour with a white head which gives way to some great lacing. Smells of citrus, with some malts as well. Very strong grapefruit aromas. The taste is almost predominantly grapefruit. I had to make sure with the bartender (who was very friendly) that there was no grapefruit juice added to the beer. This is a strong and bitter tasting beer, but has great flavour. I would definitely recommend this beer, as well as this pub, to anyone in the area. Great beer. Drinking the doppelganger version of this beer(all dry hops are added at flame out and this one isn?t dry hopped, same grain bill though). Pours a hazy golden orange with a big white head and some lace. Smell is a big citrus bomb, taste is of grapefruit and pine, abv hidden very well, awesome ipa. Deep golden pour. Nose is very bright. Fresh citrus and pepper. Assertive bitterness. A clean bitterness and a great citrus/spice character. Awesome. Could drink this all day. Spab (3834) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 16, 2012
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a lightly cloudy orange with decent-sized white head with lots of retention. Aroma is huge, lovely mostly citrusy but also piney hops with sweet candied malt. Flavour is quite sweet and full of grapefruit/citrus and piney hops. Nice bitterness in finish. Fine carbonation. Really an excellent, very drinkable beer. UPDATED: APR 24, 2013 Clear copper colour with a thin white head and lace. Lovely fruity wine gum aroma. Fruit hop flavour with a pine finish. HeistAlmighty (1156) - Saint John, New Brunswick, CANADA - FEB 7, 2012
2oz draft sample at the brewpub. This one was a real odd duck. Looked like an appropriate IPA. Smell was grapefruit, pine and... candy? Taste was like what a grapefruit candy might taste like if they didn’t tone down the bitterness. The malt in this was almost confectioner’s sugar. This ended up reasonably well balanced, but the closest thing I can compare it to is Mad Tom IPA and even that doesn’t really express the sweetness right. Body was smooth. Overall, rather unique. The first really bitter IPA my wife really enjoyed.
