An interesting if not completely successful stout. Pours a very nice deep brown-black with a tan head. Smells of a coffee milkshake. Taste is coffee upfront, with a bit of a slightly strange, bitter, boozy finish that lingers. A bit like coffee rinds. Had on tap at the brewpub. UXO (1896) - CANADA - JUN 20, 2014
(Tasting flight) Pours a deep cola red with minimal head and lacing. Nose is dark malt with a hint of anise and dark fruit. Taste is similar, but surprisingly sharp, with a distinct alcohol bite. Mouth feels tends to the watery. Lubiere (14133) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 14, 2013
A deep dark stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, smooth chocolate perfumy chocolate malt with milk and light coffee. In mouth, loads of chocolate malt with light berries, coffee, and light lingering bitterness, wow. JoeMcPhee (9515) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 7, 2012
Deep black/brown pour. The nose is a bit chewy and chocolatey with some light roasty character. A little bit of soft roast. Solid. Spab (4002) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 16, 2012
On tap at the brewpub (both nitro and CO2 pours). Pours a deep, dark brown/black with good-sized tan head. Aroma is roasty with lots of anise and dark fruit. Flavour is roasty chocolate, anise, raisin with a real roasty bitterness in the finish. Interesting to have the side-by-side comparison - not surprised to see/feel the creamier consistency of the nitro, but was at how the flavour really came through differently between the two. A nice beer either way.

Black appearance with a tan, creamy head. Earth malt flavour with a slight hint of coffee. Smooth finish. HeistAlmighty (1156) - Saint John, New Brunswick, CANADA - FEB 7, 2012
12oz draft at brewpub. Solid black colour with ample mocha head and lively carbonation on the glass. Lots of lacing as this went down. Aroma is big and roasty. Taste was dark chocolate and raisin with a strong roasted malt back. Body was a little thin for my ideal stout. Overall, a very solid effort with strong success in 3 out of 4 categories.
