Draught @ Rockbottom, Halifax, NS: I’m not sure if this is a permanent addition or not, it was given to me in the absence of the Nut Brown they normally carry. Arrived a nice amber colour, but no real head to speak of. The aroma is all jalapeño, but actual fresh jalapeño, as if you’d just cut into the pepper yourself. Kudos for capturing that in a beer, I’m impressed. The jalapeño doesn’t mess around in the flavour, it arrives quickly and predominantly, quite a bit spicier than I had anticipated given previous pepper beer experience. It’s a bit of a one-trick pony as the strong pepper doesn’t leave much for careful malty balancing or citrusy hops, but I suppose it is what it said it is.
