Pour is a murky but bright yellow with almost no head. Aroma is all about the barrel. A vinous aspect is there all so. Flavor is again pretty much all of the barrel. Not that there is anything wrong with that but its just that it overpowers anything the base beer was going to offer. Finish is silky and none of the alcohol is present at all. It was well done just the wood aging overtook the whole beer. Maybe triples arent meant to be barrel aged.

Bottle from Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours cloudy golden with a tiny off-white head and an earthy fruit aroma. There is a slightly fruity caramel malt flavor with some vanilla and a whiskey finish. That whiskey took the sweet right out of the malt. Quite interesting.

Shared 12.7 oz. bottle poured to snifters, showing a hazed, orange color, with a modest layer of off white, bubbly head foam, and spotty lacing. The nose offered some barrel hints, light spice, esters as dried fruit, and some lurking alcohol. Medium bodied, with soft carbonation, the taste continued the esters, presented some sweetness, alcohol warmth, and modest hop bitterness. Not bad, but barreling tended to subdue a good deal of the usual Tripel expressiveness, imo.

375 c&c from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy amber gold with no head. Aroma is whiskey/wood/fruit. Full bodied, almost. Flavor is malt, something vinous, wood, caramel. A touch of whiskey, and a hint of heat. This is very smooth, with lots of different flavors, and they all blend into a delicious ale. Excellent.

Bottle... Muckfest 2014... Hazy caramel-colored pour with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is lightly funky, bready and vinous. Full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor offers pear, wine, oak and bread, with both crusty and alcoholic bitterness.

Bottle. Youngish. Pours with a big white fluffly lasting head and sheet lace, hazy light yellow. Aroma is light summery fruit esters, hay spices, light Brett perhaps, lemon zest., modest whiskey notes adding depth. Flavor is sweet heavy belgian yeast notes, moderate spice, ripe citrus, then the boozy whiskey notes. Those dont mesh well for me. The feel is lush, full, and lively until the boozy bite takes over with drying alcohol and barrel tannins. I think this would be much better without the whiskey. Or at least I would want to drink it again.

750ml corked and caged bottle. Murky pour, spice notes, definite barrel character. But jsut not a combo I care for, nor do I think the base beer is anything extraordinary.

Bottle sample at the Rockmill tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 3/27/14. Hazy amber pour with no head. Aroma of bourbon, wine, malt and Belgian yeast esters. Malty flavor giving way to red wine and bourbon before a semi-dry finish.
