Bottle at the RBWG 2014 grand tasting, thanks! Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of grain and hay with backing notes of grass and belgian yeast. Flavor has more belgian yeast that lends a peppery note with a backbone of grain and grass.

RBWG14 Trip Rating #131. Bottle shared at the Grand Tasting. Pours a clear copper color with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of pale malt, honey, dust, vegetal notes. Taste is sweet bready malt, honey, spice, herbal hops. Medium bodied, slight lingering spice.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2014 Rubber / cork in the nose, maybe it’s old, maybe it’s not in good shape, hard to tell. Phenolic, yeasty, lightly hoppy / grassy, some cobwebs and citrus pith, melon rind and such. Not a very pleasant aroma, the drywall / caulk and rubber notes are off-putting. Medium body, high carbonation, juicy noble hops give it some lemon and lime punch. Malt is baguette and crackers but seems stale. Hot alcohols in the finish.

guest sample @ Party Town / Florence KY Easily the best of the Rockmill brews I sampled. Aroma of pastures and fresh spring air. Cloudy golden amber with a full 2" head that never leaves, lace that slides back into the drink. Taste is wheat, hay, and malt with a pinch of light fresh spice, adding sweet caramel as it literally bursts into the palate. Just enough bittering to balance arrives in a satisfying finish. An exceptional example of the style.

superspak (5883) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - JAN 9, 2014
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/16/2013. Pours lightly hazy orange amber color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with plenty of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big orange, pear, apple, apricot, lemon zest, clove, pepper, light bubblegum, bread, honey, herbal, floral, grass, straw, and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity of big fruity/spicy yeast, malt, and hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big orange, pear, apricot, apple, lemon zest, clove, pepper, light bubblegum, honey, bread, herbal, floral, grass, straw, and yeast earthiness. Big earthy/spicy yeast flavors on the finish; with lingering notes of orange, pear, apricot, apple, lemon zest, clove, pepper, honey, bread, herbal, grass, straw, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity and balance of big fruity/spicy yeast esters with moderate malt and hop flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic saison! All around awesome balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, malt, and hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.
