COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Very dark and smooth ale is made from European Pale Ale, CaraMunich, and Chocolate malts with roasted wheat, roasted rye, and rolled oats, as well. Amarillo Hops are used to impart bitterness. This beer is pushed from the brewery's serving tanks using a Nitrogen gas blend, giving a unique thick and creamy mouthfeel.

Sampler at the brewpub. Pours a thin, poorly retained off white head, over a possibly clear, brown (SRM 30) body.....nose is chocolate, coffee, cocoa.....taste is chocolate, coffee, cocoa, sweet toffee/caramel, finishing with a mild roasted malt hop bitterness.....mouth feel medium, slightly sticky, with a creamy oat mouth feel. Overall a very nice Stout with the malt back bone very complex and thorough. Given the changes in rating they must have significantly modified the recipe. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

GABF. Some roastiness comes through in the aromas, but it was difficult to pick up. Not much in the way of flavor either. Some chocolate maybe. OK

12 oz bottle from Tipsy’s into my Funkwerks glass. Black with a small tan head that dissipates to nothing. The aroma is caramel, milk chocolate, roasted malts, light bitter hops, rye bread and a touch of spices. Similar flavor with vanilla and earth. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Average body with a creamy feel and roasted finish.

Pours hazy black with little head. A malty aroma with some coffee. A full-bodied coffee liqueur taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Rockyard poured a clear dark brown with a small quickly disapating tan head. Aromas of bitter chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and a hint of smoke with a smooth slightly dry lingering bitter finish.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with slightly tan head, aroma brought notes of dark chocolate, caramel, some roasted malt into some slight yeast, touch of coffee in there as well. Taste is simple, some roast, cocoa, and dark fruit into a bit of dark sugars, hints of spice, finishing slightly bitter.

Black and rather opaque; quickly fading head. Thick and soft texture. Roasty and toasty with a milky-sweet base. Notes of dark chocolate and a pinch of sourness. Large amount of hop bitterness, which lingers well into the aftertaste.
