COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rodenbach Alexander was brewed for the first time in 1986 on the occasion of Alexander Rodenbach’s 200th birthday and is now back by popular demand to the delight of beer lovers in Belgium and abroad. It is a blend of 2/3rd aged Rodenbach (100% 2 year aged beer) with 1/3rd younger ale, macerated with sour cherries. The natural flavour and taste of sour cherries brings a perfect match between the sour beer and the red fruit. Its aftertaste is reminiscent of a Burgundy wine and its freshness makes this beer the perfect aperitif or accompaniment to cheeses or dessert. Note: The 2016 version has the abv of 5.6%

Shared bottle at RB/HD on board Fridtjofen 21.01.17. 2016-vintage. 5,6 % ABV. Clear, reddish orange. Dense and persistent white head and lacing. Fine aroma of cherries. Superb taste of sour cherries and marzipan. Refreshing. Absolutely superb!

Bottle, 2017 vintage. Pours hazy light red with a medium khaki head, pretty good retention! Aroma has raspberries, cherry, a somewhat sharp acidic note, perhaps a bit solvent like (?). Taste is surprisingly sweet up front, followed by wood, balsamic vinegar tartness, a dusty/dry note and a lot of cherries/red berries at the end. Medium body, high and soft carbonation, round and very dry mouth feel. Tart, dry and slightly herbal bitter after taste.

A bit too sweet for my taste, otherwise nice.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2018 Fra flaske.

Pours clear reddish with a small pink head. Aroma cherries, brown sugar, vinegar, wood and some wine notes. In taste high sweetness and medium sourness. Very good but 250 ml was more than enough. A bit to sweet.

10/12/2016 -- from notes: 750ml bottle, shared with phaleslu and prufrockstar. Clear red color. Some off-white, slightly pink head. Really nice, big sour cherry in the nose. Moderate-plus sweet taste, lighter sour. Mild slick. Little funky character, mild vinegar, touch of lactic creaminess. Pretty nice cherry sour.

Fin surhet.
