COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The brewer allow the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge, an exceptional RODENBACH with fruit maceration and a 7% alcohol volume. The brew is more than unique and extremely exclusive, as only 900 75-cl bottles were produced. Geunes serves this wilful beer as part of his other unique range of beer varieties in his restaurant, ’t Zilte, at the Antwerp MAS museum.

Pours a clear rusty red with a thin pinkish head. Bold aroma of tart raspberries. Taste is big on tart raspberries and sour cherries. I didn't taste much of the cranberries. Nice mouth feel with a lasting tingle on the roof of the mouth and a slight pucker. Finishes smooth with a lot of residual tart fruit and some woody notes in the aftertaste. Stands up to all the hype. Very enjoyable.

Shared bottle. Hazy dark red beer with minimal tan head. Aroma of red fruits, cherries, raspberries, raisins, light caramel and vanilla. Taste is light+ sweet and light to medium sour, of red fruits, cherries, raspberries, light caramel, vanilla, wood. Fruity and woody finish. Medium body, average carbonation. Very tasty, drinkable and rather mild Rodenbach.

Piana jak z coli, znika momentalnie, kolor czerwono-miedziany, mętny. Aromat mocno owocowy, świeże, poziomki, maliny, wiśnie, winna słodycz i jednocześnie kwaskowatość, intryguje, przyjemny.

Very interesting, sweet and sour. With elegance. I think it is perfect together with a fruit cheescake or also a chocolate and dark fruit cake. Well it's also very good solo.

Damn. This beer is interstellar, and despite the growth in great sours in the US, we see here they still need to take some lessons from the classics. Sweet and sour. First the sour, it's not overwhelming punch in the mouth sour, but a nice "right there" tartness, acetic in nature with a tinge of balsamic flavor. The sweet is not malt, as the beer is attenuated nicely, giving it a semi-dry finish and lighter palate. The sweet is a rich blend of fruits, I guess the cranberries and cherries stand out but on the whole it's really just a nice element of fruitiness. Cloudy, sedimented pour, reddish-brown, small head.
