75cl bottle. Not the first or the last. Amazing cranberry/cherry aroma. Taste is vinegar, fruity tartness, oak, medium sour, w/ the classic Rodenbach aftertaste. My favorite Flanders red/brown.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a deep ruddy red with a thin beige head. Lots of pie cherry in the nose with sour and tannic cranberry, cherry pit and almond, and a touch of phenolic acidity. Bright berry notes in the flavor with cherry predominant and cranberry on the back. Nice acidity/tartness upfront with a touch of marker/phenolic. Medium light bodied and dry.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 2, 2016 75 cl bottle, served in a wine glass. Poured a cloudy red with a two finger off white, pinkish head. Delicious aromas of cherries, cranberries, raspberries, oak, tart, caramel, flowers. Taste: OH WOW! cranberries, cherries, raspberries, tart, very vinous, caramel, vanilla, very oaky, woody dryness, vinegar, granny smith apples. Very complex tastes of sweet, sour and dry. The sour is not overwhelming at all. A medium body with a long dry and fruity tart finish. Rodenbach really outdid themselves with this fruit nectar. Absolutely heavenly!

75 cl bottle poured in to a Snifter. Dark red colour with an amber tint. Thin, off-white head. Lovely colour. Tart, fruity aroma with sour cherries, raspberries, cranberries, oak, sweeter fruits, caramel malts. Leather and tobacco. Nice wooden nuances. Taste is lightly sour. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes lasting dry and tart fruity. Superb Flanders Red.

Pours deep mahogany with small fizz. Smells tart and strongly of berries. Taste is sour, fruity, and subtle oakiness. Medium-bodied with a sharp texture and prickly mouth-carbonation, Rodenbach Caractère Rouge finishes with a lingering fruity tartness.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle. Pale burgundy body, medium head. Aroma has sour berries and light vinegar. Sweet lightly tart taste with mostly cranberries. Too much sweet cranberries, making it a bit soda-like. Not as enjoyable as the regular Rodenbachs which I love. I expected this to be a 4+ beer but it’s really too much like a cranberry lemonade. A bit of a disappointment.
