The brewer allow the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge, an exceptional RODENBACH with fruit maceration and a 7% alcohol volume. The brew is more than unique and extremely exclusive, as only 900 75-cl bottles were produced. Geunes serves this wilful beer as part of his other unique range of beer varieties in his restaurant, ’t Zilte, at the Antwerp MAS museum.

Red amber color with light pink foam. Aroma of red berries. Taste of cherry, raspberry but also the slightly bitter dry towing of the cranberries. Sour vinegar-like aftertaste.

From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours intense red with limited pink foam. Aroma is intense cherries. Body is fairly light, feeling almost like a drink. Taste is an enjoyable combination of sweet and sour, the former coming soon, and the latter more afterwards. Finish is short and clean.

750ml bottle of 2013 Release at Khyber Pass Pub. Pours a red color with no head. No carb. Delicious red fruit blend and some slight oakiness. Fragile.

Ran into a problem having 4 beer club members. It's like having an even number of city council members. We had to have a tie breaker broken u twice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle shared at epic Cantillon. Aroma: extremely vinegar, acetic, medicinal, strawberries and raspberries, wood. App: light burgundy, minimal white head, little lacing. Taste and palate: medium body, really acetic, moderate high acidity finish. Overall: meh. Not impressed. So acetic. Meh. Doesn't deserve this hype

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2017 Caña en t Brugs beertje, Brugge 09..09..2017. (r798).

From notes. Enjoyed with ebone1988 and Gus at Gus’s abode on August 27 for what Eric so eloquently called the "It’s My Birthday, and I’ll Get Drunk and Piss Myself if I Want to" Bash. 750 mL bottle, 2013 vintage. The pour is a nice darker garnet color with a lighter tan head and a few spots of soapy lace as it recedes. The aroma is interesting. There is a heavy jamminess to this one. Lots of raspberry and cranberry with the cherries coming in a little late. The funkiness behind this is pretty strong as well. The flavor is just as good. Jammy up front with a light tartness and the berries roll together. The funk and oak offer a good deepening complexity, and the finish is tart and bright. The mouth feel is medium bodied with a bright carbonation and a lingeringly tart and funky jam on the back end. This is pretty solid. 8 4 8 4 16
