A blend of 1/3 young beer and 2/3 of beer aged 2 years in large oak vats. The more important proportion of oak matured beer contributes to its fruity taste, complexity and intensity. The finish is worthy of a great wine.

   AROMA 9/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 9/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 18/20

Rated 3/20/13. 750ml bottle into a Duvel tulip. A: Pours a murky brown color. The head is a one finger light mocha shade that features a beautiful creaminess to it. Lacing is great for the style. S: A lot going on in this one, and a lot going on that I love, as well. Huge sourness (mainly lactic) is augmented brilliantly by tart cherries. Underneath that are layers of oak and cream. It’s complex enough, and immensely enjoyable. T: The first note on the palate is a wave of pleasant, well-restrained sourness. Then, fantastic cherry notes overtake the midtaste before a finish that strikes a balance between cream-like sweetness and oaky dryness. It’s not the sourness or the fruitiness that lures me into this one; it’s the sophisticated cohesion between all the different elements which does so. M: Crisp and light, not to mention refreshing. Mellow dryness and carbonation help it go down with incredible ease. O: Wow, this kicks ass. On the right kind of day (let’s say perfectly sunny, 80F, sitting on a patio) I’d have no trouble crushing multiple 750ml bottles of this left and right. Beautiful stuff, this one.

I found this beer not complex at all, no notes of BA maturation or complexity of sweet/acid/bitter. It just seemed monolitic acid/vinergardy with pleasant notes of cherries both in aroma and flavor. From the style - this definitely not one of the best.

J’ai donc gouté cette somité des bières aigres (sour) et elle est assez surprenante! Elle est boisée et acide et avec un gout de fruit rouge. Plutôt légère en alcool mais avec un goût prononcé, c’est rare, bonne!

This is a review from late 2014 that I just found. Bottle that was aged 2 years at beerbistro. Oaky sour grape and basalmic vinegar aroma and flavours. Cloudy reddish brown with a whitish head. Quite lovely.

Aroma is acidity and containing some milky notes. Even though it is a sour there are a lot of sweet cherries in the taste, barrel, tart and lightly sour. Overall a very nice beer.

Bière rouge sans mousse, une odeur de fruits rouges, de prunes, un peu d’amertume, un petit peu piquante elle me fait penser à la duchesse de Bourgogne, palais très sucré

Flavor dominat red wine, cherries note and red fruit. Flavor wine red fruit, tart, hint of horse funk, and wood notes. Moderate sournes of notes of acetic acid and quite sweet body, tart aftertaste. Very unique, nice exame of style.

Brak dokładnych notatek.
Aromat winny, drewno, beczka. W smaku jest słodko, śliwka, beczka, troche wanilii.
Średnio kwaśne, gładkie i wysoko wysycone.

Murky brown with a tan head. Aroma had red wine notes, red fruit/plums/berries, and some horse blanket/ funk. Taste tart, a bit muddled, some wood notes, funk, a bit of alcohol, tanic. Not all that good, really, though it does get better after it sits for a bit.

BARWA: brunatna. Skromna piana, szybko opada. AROMAT: czerwone winogrona, domowe wino, rodzynki, marmolada, lekko słodkawy aromat. Bardzo szlachetny aromat. Troche przypomina Sherry.
