Bright reddish amber pour with an off-white head. Nose is just like cherry soda and candy. A bit of tartness, mostly vinegar, with a hint of lemon. There’s a fair amount of metal and some grass, too. Tastes overwhelmingly sweet. A ton of cherry, but more like a soda than anything. Sugar, light vinegar tartness, and some metallic notes.
Found my old ratings back. Red/brown colour, Very sweet nose of cherry candy, sweeteners. Light tartness from the Rodenbach. Alengrin (5262) - BELGIUM - SEP 30, 2014
The missing link between Rodenbach Alexander from the nineties and Rodenbach Rosso which was launched recently; this version existed from 2004 to 2007. It consisted of 4/5 young Rodenbach and 1/5 sugared cherry juice and was aimed at a young audience - hence the somewhat gimmicky bottle with screw cork and the totally gimmicky, flattened glassware in which it was supposed to be served. I remember this as a darkish red brown beer with very sweet, sugary, cherry jam-like onset revealing more sourishness and woodiness (real ’Rodenbachness’, so to speak) towards the end, not unlike the long-gone Alexander; a weird tomato aroma kind of disturbed me, though. It was discontinued due to lack of success, I wish the brewery all the luck with their Rosso now, but there is no doubt this kind of compromized attempts at popularizing Rodenbach are to be looked upon as a commercial necessity to help keeping the ’real’ thing (including the Grand Cru, Vintage and other versions) alive - and for such an important beer family, I quite obviously can have nothing against that. alexsdad06 (10284) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 22, 2014
Bottle from backlog notes. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have slightly tart cherry, sweeter cherry juice, a mild acidity, not much in the way of complexity here and no where near Belgian Red. beechner224 (1024) - Melbourne, Florida, USA - JUN 29, 2014
Bottle share thanks to Mcbackus. 6 year old bottle. Clear amber color with no real head. Lots of cherry in the nose, sweet and syrupy. Taste is sweet, lightly tart, lots of cherry. Homer321 (5045) - Melboring, Florida, USA - JUN 28, 2014
Bottle shared by mcbackus. Aroma is cherry juice. Pour is a brownish red. Taste is just as sweet and fruity. Pretty damn good.

Bottle share thanks to mcbackus. Best by 2008 on the bottle. Mostly clear, amber color, minimal head. Tons of cherry aroma, sweet , syrupy, more cherry, malty. Tons of cherry juice, sweet, lightly tart, and just a lot more cherry flavor. mcberko (17339) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 16, 2014
Bottle from kraddel (thanks Dylan), pours a dark amber with no head. Nose is stale, with cardboard and tart plums. Flavour is sweet and sour, with some light notes of cardboard. Decent beer, but pretty weak. PriorL (3068) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAR 10, 2014
UPDATED: APR 11, 2014 Bottle at home. Shared with Mathieu87.
APPEARANCE: clear red beer, small unstable reddish head.
NOSE: cherries, sweet, artificial, little wood, lactic.
TASTE: sweet, syrupy, little wood, somewhat sour.
Aged quite well! This was probably worse to drink when young! Now it’s quite drinkable and refreshing. suprchunk (2994) - Crestview, Florida, USA - JAN 17, 2014
Deep red colored pour with a bit if a caramel color. Slight amount of off-white bubbles that don't last long. No lacing. A very sour cherry aroma. Some malt notes as well. Taste is all cherries. A little bit tart and totally awesome.
