Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

Pours a brown hazy body with a thick head. A sour aroma and a rich taste. A very good sour Ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2009 vintage, barrel 145. 750 mL bottle courtesy of Tyson, served in a snifter. Pours hazy deep chestnut with a medium beige head that mostly remains and leaves a moderate amount of fine lace. The nose has big notes of oak, caramel, vanilla and sour cherry. The flavour is balanced between soft tart cherries on the one hand and caramel oakiness on the other. The finish is long and delicate with oaky notes, slight sour fruit, caramel and vanilla. On the palate it is medium in body with a silky smooth texture and soft carbonation. Overall, a very elegant barrel aged sour red ale. 2014-03-07

Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a Trappist glass. Cloudy dark red brown with moderate quickly fading head; nice lacing. Aroma is sour yeast, balsamic vinegar, and notes of toffee and ripe berry. Flavour is tart dried fruit, tarragon, oak, and sweet caramel malts. Well balanced sweetness, sourness, and tartness.

2010 Vintage, pouring a copper brown body and initially a foamy brown head. Woody malts, dark fruit, sticky brown sugar and a sourish fermenting aroma. Very clearly present yet soft sourness in the taste, malty too, brown cane sugar. Very drinkable though and lovely developed. I dig it. (75cl bottle gift from Nico and Cecile, many thanks!)

Backlog. 2008 vintage tried at a Belgian-tasting. Sour with a good dose of brown sugar, dried fruits, some oak and cherries.

Love this beer. It’s truly the epitome of what I love about sour beers at the moment. Clean tart sour flavors with just the right balance of sweet fruit. Pleasant yet powerful. I could drink this anytime, anywhere, gladly.

2011 Vintage... Pours a dark ruby red with a average sized off-white colored head which dissipates quickly. Aroma is sour cherry, , apple, very tart, oaky vanilla, and something sugary but smooth. Taste is very tart green apple, big oak note, very juicy cherries, and a soft finish of vanilla. The palate is very drinkable. Great beer, awesome to have it aged back to when I first tried the Grand Cru.

Ed5388 (3488) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - FEB 18, 2014
Sampled at Big Brew Beer Festival (Morristown). 2011 Vintage. Poured a hazy amber color with a frothy tan head. Aroma funk, sour cherry, and nail polish remover. Taste is much the same. Really sour and tart black cherries, and lots of funk.

CapFlu (5129) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 15, 2014
Pours a thin, quick dissipating head atop a deep mahogany colour body. Nose of sour cherries, nail polish remover and wood. Flavour is tart, cherry and raspberry seed with vanilla and earthy base. 750ml bottle, 2009 Vintage purchased at Metro Liquor University Heights for around $13.
