COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

[Vintage 2014] 750ml bottle with cork and cage from LCBO. Pours a one finger frothy beige head, good retention. Has a dark amber appearance with ruby highlights. Somewhat excessive carbonation. Weak lacing. Aromas of toasted malts, smoky, spices. Flavours are abundant with dark fruits, plums, raisins, some notes of berries. Quite a bit of sourness on the palate. Full bodied. Slightly tarty in the finish. Sort of a fizzy mouthfeel.

[2012] mostly clear mahogany with a big spritzy off white head. Aroma has a lot of red wine character, funk, dark fruit, horse blanket, very complex and not easily definable. Taste tart, dry, almost (but not quite) puckering, fruit (especially plums and berries) but without any sweetness. The palate does have some residual sweetness though, preventing this from being overly sour. All in all, nice and vey complex beer.

75cl bottle [2014]. Hazy dark amber/light brown with a small off-white head. Tart, fruity, wood and tannic. Good.

14/07/2017 @home - 75cl bottle (Vintage 2011, 1 year past it’s BBF-date from Colruyt, Oudenaarde. Red colour with just a small rim as head. Nose is straight vinegar, cherries. Taste is vinegar, cherries, some oak, vinous. Vinegar is to overpowering for me. Or I was in bad condition, or the beer was in bad condition....

Kolor brązowy z rubinowymi refleksami, klarowne. W aromacie ocet, karmel, czerwona porzeczka, jabłko, miód, brzoskwinia. W smaku średnio kwaśne, wiśniowe, jabłkowe, lekko kwiatowe i waniliowe. Pojawia się również cierpki posmak winogronowych skórek. Pomimo swej cierpkości i kwaśności piwo jest również słodkie. Wysycenie średnie, bardzo pijalne. Jak dla mnie bardzo dobre.

Nicely complex but not as good as I had hoped. Aromas and flavors of oak, fruity, tart with caramel sweetness and a little funk. Pretty mahogany color and with a smooth and dry palate.

Fruity, estery aroma with hints of wild yeast in the background. Taste is rather sweet with a bit of acidity, well balanced, nothing edgy or extreme. Very enjoyable, drinkable beer.

Shared 2012 bottle. Unclear red colour, average off-white head. Aroma of red fruits (cherries, grapes, notes of apple), wood, light vinegar, slightly vinous. Taste is light sweet, medium sour, fruity: cherries, apples, grapes, wood, light vanilla, light vinegar, earthy notes. Light sour, fruity finish. Medium body and carbonation. Great balance, drinkability, superb fruity flavour. Very tasty Flanders ale.

homeini (273) - Warsaw, POLAND - JUL 2, 2017
