Rodenbach Vintage is the unique result of selection by our Rodenbach brew masters, the barrel after two years of maturation has produced the best beer, "the best barrel of the year". The label is always the number of barrel stated and the year which marks the beginning of maturation.

Rodenbach Vintage is 100% matured old beer, resulting in superior Rodenbach Grand Cru. Its taste is complex, round, intense and refreshing. Typically, the apple tart fruitiness combined with caramel, wild honey and oak with a hint of vanilla, cherry and licorice. Its aroma has hints of caramel and oak, as well as notes of green apples mixed with honey and chocolate. The soft sour, fruity aftertaste is long and nicely balanced like a grand cru wine.

Ingredients: water, barley malt, corn, hops.

Wow. Thanks to TampaBrew for bringing this one. Pours a lovely red with haze and a creamy off-white head. Nose is cherry, wood, vinegar, fruit, and sweetness. Flavor is the same with a pervading balsamic presence that is very mellow and resides firmly in the background. Medium bodied, complex, and finishing with cherries, vinegar, and mellow vinegar. Top noch, and very drinkable.

Copenhagen 22/12018. 37,5 cl bottle from Øl-handleren in Hørning. Bottle made out to look like some kind of clay bottle. Drawing of whom seems to be the brewmaster Rudi Ghequire sporting a glass of sour beer on the label. Pours clear reddish brown with small bubbly off-white head. Settles as thin patch of foam floating aimlessly around. Aroma has some sweetness but is dominated by strong sourness. Vanilla and fruit sugar meeting sour unripe gooseberries, lemon and sour apples. Acidic and strong. Strong carbonation and watery palate. Flavor is medium sweet followed by strong and dry sourness. Aftertaste is sour with a little sugary insistence. Finish dry. Very nice sour fellow with a magnificent balance between the fresh sour fruit and the more subdued sweetness.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2017 Aromat winny, dużo nut octowych, wiśniowych i czerwonych owoców oraz drzewnych nut beczki. W smaku dość mocno kwaśne z kontrą lekkiej słodyczy. W posmaku cierpkie, taniczne. Wysycenie niewielkie. Dość treściwe i zarazem bardzo pijalne. Bardzo dobre piwo.

0.75l bottle vintage 2014. Almost totally clear reddish body with a very thin white head. Aroma of sour cherries, oak, mold and grapes. Taste of sour cherry, oak, tobacco, caramel and vinegar. Bone dry and sour. The aroma has a tiny bit of solvent-like harshness, but the taste is probably the best from all oude bruins I've had. Really nice.

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Vintage 2014, Foeder 192. Aroma is malt, oak, tart red fruits, vinous notes, sweet and tart cherries, red grapes, touch of funk, mild vinegar, some cane sugar, and a hint of caramel. Flavour is tart and medium sour with a surprising sweetness. Medium bodied. Very tasty sour and sweet Flanders Red, lots of oak, vinous notes and tart red fruits.

Bottle shared at tasting session. Reddish brown colour, small white lacing. Nose is red wine, a touch of acetic acid. Taste is medium sweetness, some acetic notes, and candied sugar. Those who had more flemish reds than I did said its too sweet, but I liked it like this.
