4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
The nose has a nice tart cherry aroma, with some port wine. Darker than the regular Rodenbach, if I remember correctly. The extra oak-aging has given it more body. The sweetness has mellowed somewhat, but thankfully the sourness is still right there, and it picks up in the finish. This has all the depth of a great red wine, with some acidity, sour cherry, Belgian yeast, and a hint of raspberry. Spectacular.
Bottle from Lcbo shared with Seb A: red fruits, acetic, a touch of balsamic vinegar, alcohol, licorice. App: clear dark copper border brown no head. T/p: med body with quite long acidic finish. O: nice complexity with good balsamic flavour. There's a touch of acetone but nothing too much. Nothing something I would drink daily but a good session closer. 750ml bottle. Pours clear reddish brownish colour, nice yellowish head stays. Lots of caramelly fruits, some woodiness, vinegar, sourness in aroma. Taste is sour, acidic, woody, lots of fruits here, berries, plums. More vinegary notes in aftertaste, woody tannin dry finish. Medium + bodied, quite lively carbo. Very interesting and well balanced brew, really nice to pair with different food. Good! Mattseward (25) - - NOV 11, 2017

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2017 Dark amber colour, no head. In rase there are dark fruits, rains, barrell but unfortunately also some vinegar. In taste it is really great, little bit sourness with sweet counter coming from dark fruits and barrell. It remains me somehow of good barley wine. With very light carbonation it makes it a great beer! beermastersasho (143) - - SEP 26, 2017
Nice beer, all is like the other too rodenbach's beers - caractere rouge and grand cru. This is just a little bit sour, no such sweetness. Same barrel aromas, fruitness, champagne but + vinegar. It is complex. FOOD RECOMMENDED!
