schavuitje (248) - APELDOORN, NETHERLANDS - MAY 28, 2017
Business trip to Bronckhorster Brewery, this is their best but not always, dark even the foam, smells of dark dark, fresh-cold coffee, sour caramel sweet behind roasted aftertaste

vami (455) - Poznan, POLAND - MAY 23, 2017
[Euro Beer Swap thanks to MonsterMagnet] Pours black with dense tan head. Aroma: smoke, prunes (a lot of smoked prunes - but no prunes in the ingredient lists, which is surprising - apparently malt + aging), no alcohol in aroma, licorice, raisins, berries. Taste: smoked prunes again, sherry notes, chocolate, then alcohol kicks in. Alcoholic/berry-like finish. Would taste better a year later.

Lowenbrau (4132) - Asturias, SPAIN - DEC 21, 2016
33cl bottle @Cimmeria, Oviedo. 24-05-2015.
"1ª Cata Ratebeer Asturias".
BBD: 18-08-2020.
In short: dry & bitter ale.
Pours black with little tan head. Short head retention, poor lacing. Roasty, coffee nose. Medium body, sof carbonation, oily texture. Taste is bitter, dry, coffee, little creamy sweet notes.

Hopverdju (1192) - BELGIUM - DEC 5, 2016
Zwart bier met beige schuim. Geur: gebrande mout, koffie, chocolade, rook, turf en raar maar waar iets bloemig. Smaak: alcoholisch, zoet, geturfde whisky. Weinig koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: alcoholisch en zoet.

Cuso (8614) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - NOV 12, 2016
Bottle from Benzai as part of European local swap. Dark brown color with huge beig ehead. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, peat, spices, caramel. Taste, da4k chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, very light dark fruits, hint of licorice, peat, Alcohol is dangerously hidden. Very tasty, surprisingly easy drinkable beer.

Cantabrian (1114) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 7, 2016
This was tasted side-by-side with its Nightporter/Baltic sister. And this is not as good as the sister. Not as balanced. It does have the lovely oily black colour, a bit less of a head, but just too boozy, too syrupy on the aroma and flavours, killing a bit of that lovely cocoa, dark berries, vanilla, peat and liquorice on the background. Not as easy to drink.

Bijl (597) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 31, 2016

Bottle.Black with a small head. Chocolate in a backround with a mainly malty taste. Not as much strength as you would expect . Very pleasant but one to be supped. My first from Northern Ireland-what a good start.
