Grumbo (2838) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - SEP 17, 2016
Bottle from www.slijterijhetfust.nl and split at the EU themed 2nd Ipswich bottle share. Pours almost black with a light tan head. Aroma of light roasted malt, chocolate, fruit/berries and with alcohol quite prominent. Medium sweetness and bitterness. Body towards full, oily texture, soft carbonation. Alcohol remained a little too forward throughout though.

0.33 l bottle from ’Gall & Gall’ (Zutphen), best before December 2016 (so probably almost two years old). Pitch black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite smoky, fruity and a bit roasty aroma of dark chocolate, peat, ash, dark ripe fruits and hints of iodine. Sweetish-malty, quite smoky, fruity and a bit roasty taste of dark chocolate, peat, ash, tar, some iodine and quite a bit of dark ripe fruits, followed by a medium long, moderately roasty-bitter, rather peaty-smoky finish. Medium body, minimally effervescent mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Good beer, quite complex and very intense, still very well-balanced. Cantabrian (1114) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 7, 2016
This was a while ago, a bottle from a lovely bottle store in the city centre at Nijmegen. Great service there. I recall drinking a superb beer. Black as the name, with a shaggy russet heat, just like a fruit bat. Lovely aroma of peat, dark berries, cocoa, vanilla, repeating on the flavour, with a nice touch of salty liquorice. It was somewhat oily, but incredibly easy to drink. Much superior to its midnight/imperial sister. Bijl (597) - NETHERLANDS - AUG 5, 2016
Pikzwart met rode gloed, mooie bruine schuimkraag die zakt naar een laagje.
Aroma: Iets gerookt, chocolade, koffie, donkere mouten, donkere fruit, zoethout.
Prima Spul VsXsV (4414) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 8, 2016

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2016 Bottle @ Lent. Pitch black, beige creamy head. Roasted malty chocolate and espresso, dried fruits, light red fruits and leather, smoke.Great finish. Big body, medium carbonation. johndoughty (5398) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUN 25, 2016
Bottle. Dark brown with a lively medium head. Slight sour which put me off. Not sure if this was intended or poor bottling. This tended to distract me but there where some pleasant flavours in the background trying to break through. A bit weird. minutemat (5396) - Shrewsbury, Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2016

@ LIBF 2016. Dark brown/black colour, roasty, cocoa, coffee. Well balanced porter! mariuspoenari (2637) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - MAY 6, 2016
Pitch black with a thick beige lacing. Roasted malts, cherries, cocoa and a bit of peat. The medium carbonation together with the medium to full body makes the mouthful very pleasant. Roasty chocolate aftertaste.
