I don’t know what happened with this beer, but this the worst beer I’ve ever tasted, even though I’ve tasted some really nice beers from Rodenburg. The terra incognita didn’t score well in my opinion, but this one smells like medicinal toothpaste. Lacks in any carbonation, only the appearance is ok. Really don’t know what has happened to this beer, but this shouldn’t be sold in the 1st place. This seems not due to any infection, but there should have been some more quality control here, and that’s unfortunate in this case.

Bottle 375ml.

[ As Bronckhorster Terra Incognita BA ].
Clear light medium amber orange colour with a small, open and fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, wood, resin. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, sweet malt, sugary, resin, woody - oaky, alcohol. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. IMO. the barrel did not look to do any good to the beer at all ! [20170929]

33cl Bottle from the brewery. Clear copper amber colour, no real head. Aroma of vanilla, oak, coconut, alcohol / solvent, cardamon, hint of raisins, light minty. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, spicy, cardamon, herbal, oak, wood, a bit of solvent, herbal and almost nasty bitter finish. Medium to full bodied. A lot better than the over - spiced base beer.

Aroma of malt, caramel, sweet dried fruit, apricots, some vanilla, wood, bourbon, herbal notes. Flavour is moderate sweet with a hint of sourness and a light bittersweet finish. Slightly boozy, but also relatively easily drinkable. Quite delicious Barley Wine.
