Rogue has made some good, hoppy beers, but this is a very average pale ale. Why the special release treatment?"

I picked up the bottle at the Brewery in 2004. It had a cool label on it. I honestly dont remember what the beer was like. But I have the bottle to prove that I had it. I remeber it being basic but still great.

Bottle. Orange-amber in colour, lingering off-white coloured head, pillowy lace. The aroma was of light floral hops, some yeast, light sweetness. The flavour was of hops upfront, grass and flowers, some toasted caramel malts. Wonderfully bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes long and bitter, dry. Nice stuff.

2004 bottle big thanks to Jeff for the trade (radiomgb). A year old when I opened this baby. Bright orange-golden colored beer, brilliantly colored APA with a fine white head that is both lasting and moderately thick. Plenty of lacing. Aroma of hops, light alcohol and a bit of dry yeast. Seems like there is some dry herbal spice in there, like white pepper or cumin or something. Must be the hops or yeast. Flavor is just a straight up, solid rendition of an American Pale Ale. Beautifully hoppy, moderate to high bitterness, with a dry caramel and toasted grains backbone. Bubbly, frothy mouthfeel does not water down on the finish. Perfume like aroma given off when swirled. Light alcohol notes, more citrus and dry floral hops on the finish. The malted wheat is not terribly discernable. Typical Rogue yeast apparency.

Clody dark golden color with a dissipating egg white head. Aroma is perfumy hoppy. Flavor is bitter in a pleasent sense. Not bad.

Aroma: hops, sweaty gym shoes, yeast, nutmeg
Appearance: golden, cloudy yellow, large foamy head, lacing
Flavor: dry, bitter hops, some grapefruit acidic-like qualities, slight yeast taste
Palate: dry bittering, followed by smooth buttery feel, followed by dry-mouth feel--complex palate

Fresh hoppy but mild aroma. Cloudy yellow-orange with some white lacing. Perfume sweet in flavor, with a hint of mint, moderate in flavor other than the hops and a broad murkiness. Not especially disstinguished palate, somewhat flat, with the life given by gentle bitterness.
