2014: Dark robe, big smokey, chocolatey nose, followed by a roasted, bittering dry finish. Overall, a beer to pair w/ the right food rather than a self-drinker.
Dull brown, no head, big lapsang nose, smoky, lots of tea, probably extracted too many tannins, and the abv is way too high for this. Aggressive but lacks the refinement I would want. mmather (185) - Colorado, USA - APR 11, 2014
Smooth, smokey, alcohol evident. Great brew, intensely flavored. Dark and malty. trujahwarrior (510) - Monroe, Washington, USA - FEB 19, 2014
On tap at Issaquah Brewhouse. Pours a black color with a thin tan head that leaves light lacing. Smells of roasted malt, tea, chocolate, and slight oak. Tastes of the same things in the smell but also a smoke flavor in there as well. Mouthfeel is thin and creamy with good carbonation. A little different but pretty good still. The tea adds a unique twist to this porter. Couldn’t drink more than a 12oz pour they serve though. Probably my least favorite in the Big Ass Barrel series so far.

A super strong Tea Porter. The flavour is completely unique, like nothing I have ever had before. Highly recommended! BillKismet (4041) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 16, 2014
Saparilla colored body luscious, silky chocolate-coffee cream head. Deeply smoked nose, with hints of flaked dark chocolate. Smooth, very silky, smokey body, but any chocolate notes imparted are an afterthought. Creamy, intensely smokey fare. mcberko (17178) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 21, 2013
On tap at Rogue Brewers on the Bay, pours black with a small tan head. Nose brings out loads of the super earthy, funky lapsang tea, and maybe a touch the porter qualities. Flavour is very rich, bringing out notes of chocolate, earthy tea notes, and residual syrupy sweetness. Surprisingly decadent and rich, so much better than the nose. Leaves a smoky touch on the finish. Solid stuff. jjgmd (2146) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - DEC 16, 2013
On tap at the Rogue Ale House, San Francisco, pours a dark black pour with a java head. Nose is spicy and smokey, Taste is smokey and burnt wood with a big mouth of malt. Finish is smokey as well, with a moderately long finish. Quaff Score 7 / 10 zgaier (1951) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - DEC 16, 2013
On tap at Rogue public ale house in San Francisco. Pours black with a brown head and earthy, herbal, roasty aroma. Taste is smokey and spicy, of herbal, earthy, tea with fruit and roasted malt undertones. Nice porter with a twist
