Pours black, opaque with tan head. Chocolate and coffee in the nose. Roasty, dry chocolate flavors balances well with hop flavor and bitterness. Has a nice creamy palate. Super tasty. On tap at The Shep’. Sregnar35 (1030) - Rotterdam, New York, USA - APR 27, 2008
On tap at Mahars. Dissapointing for the style. Not nearly enough body and the flavor wasn’t very strong. pnista (1007) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - APR 8, 2008
On tap @ Rogue Brewery. Pours a dark but not impenetrable black to brown. The nose lacks the sweetness suggested by the appearance. More floral hops. Some slightly biting roat. Thinner body. The flavor is drier & hoppier than I would have guessed. Roast bigger. Something like coffee. Easy to drink. Reminds me of a porter more than a schwarzbeir, but that’s not necessarily bad. Draught > Flying Saucer. Ehh, not bad. This is pretty hoppy but not IPA hoppy. Reminds me of a ESB more than a schwarzbier. I wonder if the description above is correct? blank (996) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAR 28, 2007
black, dark thick. Not what i was expecting when i asked for the bitter. Oh well, it was a hell of a beer anyway. NIce range of hops with a very nice malt character.

This seemed like an attempt to cross a porter with a pale ale. Pours black and my nose was hit with coffee and bread. The taste is of roasted malt but then the hops kick in for that nice bitterness. It was quite tasty. stangger (619) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 7, 2008
UPDATED: SEP 3, 2008 On tap at the Drafting room. Strong aroma of roasted coffee. Very thick mouthfeel, deep malty flavor. johnadam2002 (529) - Hainesport, New Jersey, USA - FEB 25, 2008
Poured amber with a white head. Aroma of hops. Not much to smell. Damn did this thing finish bitter. Some hops, citrus, and fruit. Rather sweet, but finished bitter. Rogueone (506) - I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA - APR 21, 2008
On tap @ Brew Kettle. Darkest brown appearance. Strong flavors of roasted malts and hints of licorice, with an assertively bitter finish. Does not pair well with wasabi mustard. Adam77 (457) - Eastampton, New Jersey, USA - APR 9, 2009
Poured amber with a white head. Aroma of pine. Some chocolate and citrus flavors. Different.
