Hazy orange-copper body wears a good sized off-white foam, mostly lasting and displaying good lacing. Floral grapefruity citric nose, cascade like (though I suspect there’s more than that) reminds more of an IPA than anything else, but it has this earthy and sweet maltiness that reminds me of lost coast indica. It is indeed surprisingly bitter in mouth, but there’s a fair amount malty husky sweetness to keep it balanced. Finishes very dry, I’d be curious to try a fresh one as this bottle has quite a few months on it. Moderately high carbonation enhances the bitterness I feel and might be a bit lower, but solid overall oily textured mouthfeel. Quite an original one which I enjoyed more than I expected to and is considered such a classic that I’m surprised it’s the first time I enjoy it.

One of the most balanced IPAs I have tried. Orange colour. Moderate carbonation. A bit of citrus flavour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Solid hoppy IPA. Citrusy, bitter. With some cone aroma, herbal. Not so brutal but delicate imo.

Pours a huge thick foamy head and has a slightly cloudy orange/coppery appearance. Nice dirty lacing. Aromas of mild floral hops and much stronger citrus hops. Light grapefruit notes it seems as well. Flavours are strong in orange and grapefruit, some light grainy and barley malts also come into the mix and much hops. Orange flavour becomes stronger after a while and more grapefruit becomes apparent in the finish, making it lightly soured. Mildly spiced. Nice and smooth creamy mouthfeel. Full bodied with quite active carbonation. Not sure why named Brutal IPA (what is on the bottle), seeing as how ibu is not extremely high and a 6.5%abv count is not super strong. But oh well, still good tasting!
