Chamomellow is an herbal golden ale infused with chamomile, which provides an enticing floral aroma. Chamomile is one of the oldest garden herbs used by ancient Egyptians and other cultures to battle illness, promote calm and relieve anxiety, hence the name Chamomellow. Dedicated to Caleb McLoughlin, a revolutionary brewer who created this elixir at Rogue’s Issaquah Brewhouse and won a Gold medal in the Herbs & Spice category at the 2003 Great American Beer Festival.

Chamemollow is created from Northwest Harrington and Klages, and Maier Munich Malts (18% speciality grains, .19 lbs grain per bottle). Kent Golding and Cascade hops, and infused with Chamomile. Available in a limited edition 22-ounce bottles (originally as Test Batch 1 - Gold Medal Series), and on draft at Rogue’s six Public Houses.

This is among the best use of chamomile I’ve come across. Wonderfully aromatic with a light drinkable honeysuckle like base that complements the generous flavor of chamomile quite well. Like carbonated chamomile tea."

The aroma was quite floral, strong notes of chamomile, and a hint of apples. This beer was too sweet for my taste. It reminded me of a chardonnay in both aroma and taste, especially the aftertaste. The notes of chamomile were interesting but not particularly enjoyable. For fans of NW microbrews this beer is probably too sweet, but if you are trying to convert a wine drinker then maybe this is a good beer to start with.

On tap at Rogue Public House in San Francisco, CA. Interesting concept that just didn't come together when brewed.

Draught at Rogue Ales - Brewer’s on the Bay. Made with chamomile. Very perfumey. Unusual, but... not really so pleasnt. Like a light malt tea.

Light yellow in color... Aroma of flowers, perfume, chamomile... Flavor is ciderish, potpourri... Bizarre, interesting... Only worth a try

b>Draught @ Rogue Ale House, San Francisco as ”Buckman Village Chamomellow”. Rated on 19.07.2012
Very light aroma with some sweetish peach and hints of citron. Flavour has bun dough, some peach, hints of hay and citrus. Weird, a bit watery but drinkable.

On tap at Rogue Brewers on the Bay. 4 oz sample. Aroma and taste are extreme floral. Pours pale yellow with nice lacing. Tasty if you like fresh flowers filling your senses.

Location: Draft at Rogue SF, 5/12/11, as Buckman Chamomellow

Aroma: The aroma obviously has some chamomile, in addition, some honey and malts
Appearance: The pour is hazy and golden in color with a small white head
Flavor: The taste is overly sweet, made up of honey, chamomile, spice, and some fruity notes
Palate: This one is fairly light, and the cloying mouthfeel harms the drinkability significantly
Overall Impression: This was some really odd stuff that I didn’t really enjoy too much. It was too sweet for my taste buds. The sweetness was cloying. I didn’t really enjoy this one.

On tap, Nov 2010 @ some Rogue Public House in Portland or something somewhere that I found totally by accident on the way back from Pelican. Chamomile, sweet candy orange, melon, flowers, melon and honey, peaches - lots of peaches... very good aroma. The taste is also really good and unique but not that off the wall. Chamomile, sweet sweet orange, some sort of pine that is sharp and short lived, ... well, more well defined than sharp as it is not strong. Candy, odd honey, a nice citrus with very bright orange (whatever that means), melon? This is a very cool beer. A bit of spicy spritziness keeps it feeling neat. Nice carbonation zip with a smooth, peachy finish.

On tap at the Rogue Public House in San Francisco (Listed as "Rogue Buckman Chamamellow"). Pours with a hazed golden hue and a small, but lasting white head. Aromas are spicy, floral, flowers, honey, tea and chamomile. Flavors are spicy, jasmine, chamomile. A bit biting. Herbal, tea, a bit earthy. Bitter finish. Lively bubbles, medium to light body. The herbal component makes it hard to drink. Smooth and bitter in the finish. Interesting beer!
