COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dedicated to Spanish author Juan de la Cueva, who, in 1575, wrote of a Mexican dish that combined seedless chipotles with beer: Chipotle Ale is based on Rogue’s Oregon Golden Ale, but delicately spiced with smoked chipotle chile peppers. Deep golden in color with a tight head, rich malty aroma, delicately smooth and crisp flavor, and subtle chipotle chili finish. Formerly known and packages as Mexicali Rogue, Chipotle Ale is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, and Maier Munich Malts; Willamette and Cascade hops; and Smoked Jalapeno (Chipolte) Peppers. Chipotle Ale is targeted for spring release and available in a 22-ounce bottle and on draft. Blend it with Rogue Chocolate Stout and create a Mole’ black and tan!

Measurements: 12 degrees Plato, IBU 35, Apparent attenuation 82, Lovibond 23

The base beer is pretty good, hints of belgian styles underneath. But the spices are quite peppery, tabaco-like, and smoky. Probably won't buy again, but worth a try. Bottle from sobeys.

Strong chipotle aroma, Mexican food! Cloudy copper. Chipotle flavor up front without the spice/heat. A bit one dimensional but if you’re into chipotle you’re sure to enjoy this.

Bomber from Total Wine, Gainesville. Slightly hazy deep amber with a small beige head. Aroma of citrus, smoke, and pepper. Flavor is definitely smoky, followed by some citrus, and finally some pepper heat. Kinda bland... was expecting more.

PhillyCraft (8192) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 8, 2016
Backlog, Bottle with Fantasia, pours a hazy red color with medium head. Smell and flavor are chemicals, hops, peppers, and light malt. You can definitely get the heat in the finish and aftertaste. Light bodied but can’t drink this one in any quantity. Small pours

2.9
