Dedicated to Spanish author Juan de la Cueva, who, in 1575, wrote of a Mexican dish that combined seedless chipotles with beer: Chipotle Ale is based on Rogue’s Oregon Golden Ale, but delicately spiced with smoked chipotle chile peppers. Deep golden in color with a tight head, rich malty aroma, delicately smooth and crisp flavor, and subtle chipotle chili finish. Formerly known and packages as Mexicali Rogue, Chipotle Ale is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, and Maier Munich Malts; Willamette and Cascade hops; and Smoked Jalapeno (Chipolte) Peppers. Chipotle Ale is targeted for spring release and available in a 22-ounce bottle and on draft. Blend it with Rogue Chocolate Stout and create a Mole’ black and tan!

Suprisingly good. A little smokey (Not nearly as much as a rauchnier). Hoppy (Spicey?) Did not feel the heat from the peeper. Very enjoyable. I was expectiin a gimicky beer but was pleasantly surprised at how good it acutally was

From old tasting notes. Labeled as "Rogue Mexicali Rogue Ale". Hazy gold color. Malty bean and bacon aroma. Smooth, smoky malt flavor with hints of bacon and chipotle. Subtle hot finish and aftertaste.

650 ml bomber. Dark, clear amber pour, small fizzy head, no retention. Aroma is smoky and spicy for sure. Taste follows but there’s little else besides. Just didn’t enjoy this one. Heat seems to be the only feature of the beer rather than complimenting.

Weak head that dissipates quickly Clear amber color I cannot feel any heat from the jalapeño Mild hops Would drink again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Amber with a beige head. Aroma of banana, bubblegum, spices, chili, acetone. Flavour of malts, banana, bubblegum, candy, chili, pepper, acetone. Medium chili burn reinforced by the alcohol. Good as a snifter, would not be able to drink more.

Smoky chipotle, can definitley taste the spice. A good beer. March madness 2017.

Yikes. The smoke in the grain just overpowers everything. There’s possibly a decent beer under there but I can’t find it.

Pinky77 (256) - - MAR 8, 2017
Bevuta in bottiglia.

bdleedahl (478) - , Saskatchewan, CANADA - FEB 7, 2017
The base beer is pretty good, hints of belgian styles underneath. But the spices are quite peppery, tabaco-like, and smoky. Probably won't buy again, but worth a try. Bottle from sobeys.
