Appearance: Moderately hazy brown body with a short tan head.TheHOFF43 (2052) - Robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA - MAY 26, 2016
Aroma: Light caramel, bit of sweetness, light coffee, hints of pine.
Taste: Caramel and coffee, some toffee, sweet, tastes more like a mellow brown ale with coffee.
Palate: Medium bodied, mildly carbonated.
Overall: Drinks nicely, but IPA? nah
Tap at Yardhouse in Seattle. Pours dark-ish but the lights are so dim in here I can’t really tell. Anyway, pretty good. Coffee nose is solid, coffee taste is good. Slight hop bite balances this from your typical coffe gold. Is it great? Nah. Is it Rogues best effort in a while? Very likely.
My doges name is Rogue, after Dead Guy Ale. He is my best friend. Best dog ever. I might overrate their beers because of him but he is spectacular. 135lbs of pure love for me. So maybe this is a 3.5 not a 3.7 but if you met him you’d understand. UXO (1896) - CANADA - MAY 25, 2016
Appearance: clear chestnut-tinted amber-brown with one fat finger of fluffy light beige head diminishing gradually to a thick cap, moderate lacing. (3/5) Aroma: coffee, citrus, earthy, light tropical fruit. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate astringent bitter. (7/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, off-dry moderate bitter and coffee finish. (3/5)
I was initially a little unimpressed by this: the coffee started out somewhat weak, and the nose was dominated by an almost vegetal earthiness. However, as it warmed, the coffee really moved to the forefront, with a citrus hop presence not far behind. I’m still not completely sold on coffee IPAs, but this is probably the best interpretation of that particular style I’ve encountered so far. (13/20) MiP (16093) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - MAY 25, 2016

Draft at Foam at the Dome Beer Fest in Charleston, W.Va. I thought this was the best of the 150+ beers. This kind of brewing is picking up a lot of steam recently, and you can see, smell and taste why. Crazy good coffee nose, with the classic looking IPA body, hazy golden with firm white head. Taste is coffee up front with a bit of hop bitterness on the back end. Very unique beer...and one I could drink a gallon of. tiong (7894) - Espoo, FINLAND - MAY 24, 2016
Draught @ Rogue Ales, Portland, OR. Pours dark reddish orange with a smooth head. Aroma of coffee, hops, caramel and pine. Taste is smooth, slightly roasty and hoppy with some coffee, pine, resin and berries. Finish is smooth, slightly roasty and sweetish with some hops, coffee and cold brew notes. Pretty good and actually quite close to a cold brew with some hops and alcohol added. polo_marco (333) - milton, Vermont, USA - MAY 23, 2016
Smells of sweet tropical hops then switches to stout like smell very unique. Slightly hazy bubbly amber color. Taste starts off with booming tropical hop taste with pineapple and mango with some grapefruit. Then getting nice coffee stout taste finishing with nice hoppy bite. Nice medium body with beautiful crisp carbonation that is awesome. Love coffee ipa and this is the best I’ve had. Love you work in the craft please don’t ever stop brewing. Nice work!. Draft at Ale House Amesbury, MA. Cloudy amber color with thin lasting soapy head. Aroma is earthy coffee nothing more.
Flavor is coffee forward with a caramel center and just a trace of citrus. Very weak citrus. The coffee over-rides everything. Medium in body with a long green coffee finish.
