Poured from a 750ml bottle, thanks Mike. Caramel, toasty, chocolate, warming, light fruitiness. douglas88 (9064) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 2, 2015
750 ml bottle. Very cool design. Pours a dark murky brown color with a small beige head. Really when held up to the light it is fairly clear. A big sweet nutty toffee nose. Very cool beer; huge walnut and a sort of purple fruity base, chocolate, toffee. Very much like the Hazelnut from Rogue. Tasty. Unique. Works well. Dark, caramel color, light brown head, very creamy, not as sweet as you might think. Certainly a brown ale and NOT a milk stout. If this beer had a hint of butterscotch it would be on point! I have to say a little disappointed. Patrickctenchi (6561) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - SEP 29, 2014
Deep mahogany with a small tan head.
Caramel, wood aroma.
Nutty, caramel malt flavours...very rich...
Hard to believe it’s 8.5%...nicely done. shrubber85 (11324) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - SEP 27, 2014
Bottle. Light wood ash and caramel chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown with moderate head. Sweet creamy chocolate fudge malt and lightly bitter hay/ash flavor. Smooth and full-bodied.

Capped 750 from Made in Oregon. Pours brown with a slight tan head. Aroma is nutty/malty. Med + body. Flavor is near cola, followed by nuts, followed by mixed moderately dark fruits. Chocolate shows in the finish. Not sure I’d describe this as treacle, but I’m thinking about it. It is malty, but there’s bitter notes back on the tongue sides. Highly drinkable. superspak (5517) - Michigan, USA - AUG 16, 2014
750 ml bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours crystal clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, nuttiness, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, cocoa, and fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toast, toffee, brown bread, nuttiness, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Minimal earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toast, toffee, brown bread, raisin, plum, fig, nuttiness, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, cocoa, and fruity yeast ester flavors; with no cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, fairly creamy, and lightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with no warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial brown ale. All around good complexity and balance of dark/bready malt, cocoa, and fruity yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering. OmegaX (1374) - Florida, USA - JUN 29, 2014
Bottle at home. Nose is chocolatey, some roast, dark fruits, brown sugar. Nice. Flavors are the same. As it warmed up it became heavier with brown sugar notes. This is a winner in my book. Probably the best thing I’ve had from Rogue to date. jimmythefalcon (26) - Florida, USA - JUN 10, 2014
I tried this with the 80th anniversary cheese and it made a really nice pairing. Nice rich brown ale and I could slightly taste the chocolate notes after a second or two. jjgmd (2150) - Coral Springs, Florida, USA - JUN 4, 2014
Enjoyed with Audrie, Zach and Brandon over dinner, pours a dark brown color with a small head. Nose is sweet , caramel , mocha and toffee. Taste is sweet, light and drinkable with a rich blend of mocha. Finish is sweet as well, but not overwhelming, with a mocha creamy ending. Good stuff. quaff score 8 / 10
