Call this a subdued and low-key Dead Guy, sort of like he had a bad day and was just chilling out. The harsh bite of standard Dead Guy is replaced by sweet, smooth, boozy Dead Guy. Especially good with a New Years Day grilled steak.

Bottle Vero Beach FL ABC. Pours medium copper haze with about two finger head and light lacing. Malty whisky aroma, taste up front is sweet peach malt fallowed by some spices and finishes with a peppery whisky note.

Pours a hazy orange with a thin tan head and light lacing. Aroma is malt. Taste is a somewhat sour malt with citrus. Aftertaste is a continued sour, also a bit weak. Not awful, just not for me.

Aroma of oak, orange liqueur, toast, and caramel. Taste is rye, malt, oak, tangerine, and bread. Pours a reddish amber with almost no head.

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours translucent dark copper with a light beige head. Aroma is medium dark malt (or maybe not so dark) with notes of something like a wheat whiskey. Med + body. Flavor is sweetly malty, with something like a somewhat spicy fruity/veg/wood. It's suggesting barley/wheat wine ABV, so the whiskey must be pretty much present. There's a definite whiskey presence - it just takes some time to coalesce. Beyond that there's a familiar flavor - whiskey/oak wise - that I'm not recalling. This is tasty and subtle stuff. Since I tend to despise Dead Guy, I am impressed. Goes to show that barrel aging can improve most anything. If it's cleverly done. And this is. Way underrated. It's subtly flavorfully delicious. A low ABV sipper. Who'd have thought?

Draft @ Rogue Ales Public House - San Francisco, San Francisco, CA. Pours a pale amber color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty woody whiskey caramel aroma. Fruity malty woody whiskey caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty woody whiskey caramel finish.

McKay’s Taphouse, Bellingham. Creamy head, hazy golden brown. Waxy vanilla barrel, nougat. Charlestown chew. Some milk chocolate on finish. Reizen caramel. Cool, round, sweet.

mcberko (20934) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 22, 2016
On tap at McKay’s Taphouse, pours a clear bronze with a small white head. Aroma brings out light earthy whiskey notes upfront, toasted biscuity malt and bready notes. Flavour is dominated by bready malt and whiskey barrels, beginning on the former with very dry bready notes, and transitioning to boozy whiskey. Nothing impeccably complex but it works well enough. Decent.

(Tap) bright amber colour with a small white head; aroma of wet wood, hint on honey; balanced flavour with a long light bitter finish
