Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

Bottle. Hazy honey colour, moderate off-white head. Medium-lacing. Pleasant melon smell. Nectar, honey, Sherry. Medium to full body. Relatively dry flavour. Nice maltiness. Melon. Nutty, Sherry. Pleasant esters. Solid grassy bitterness finishes the whole thing. The ending lingers. Very good.

On the the occasion I am having a finicky palate this is my go to beer. Sure I’ll switch things up but this is always a good beer to get things started. Maybe it’s just the kid in me but sometimes I like the sweet, carmel malty taste vs the bitter taste of pine sap.

From a beer hawk mystery case. Pours golden , little aroma, sweet, no hops I could detect. Little non-descript. Not one I will be looking out for again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy amber colour on pouring. Very malty, has a caramel sweetness. The hops give a slight citrus note but it’s in the background.

Sweet malty, caramel. fairly low carbonation, medium body and soft mouthfeel. Children would like this.

Bottle. Pours light hazy brownish amber with medium white head. Aroma is grain, green malt and deep bitter notes of hops. Taste is light sweet, medium bitter and light acidic. Body is watery to light oily with light fizzy carbonation. Finish is medium long and balanced sweet and bitter with notes that follow the nose.

Aroma is malty like an Oktoberfest. Very light crimson color with an off white head. Tastes slightly sweet with a bite that is a mix between hops and orange rind. Good slick palate. Maibock is not my favorite style but this is one of the better representations I have had. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
