COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary "PacMan" ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops.
In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.

I liked this beer quite a bit more than I thought I would. (No idea actually why I thought I wouldn’t like it). Anyway, it was pretty delicious! Pours caramel amber with a medium body. Aroma is malty, grainy, nutty and pleasant. Flavor is much of the same, with a mild hoppiness. The whole beer is much richer than I anticipated. I eagerly refilled my glass.

Dark golden color, long lasting head. Sweet aroma of malt, caramel and hay. Taste of honey, caramel malt, pudding, alcohol and a wee bit hops.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 4C). Bottle 35.5 cl - batch Unknown (BBF 08.2017). AROMA: caramelized and stale malt aroma. slight maillard compounds. APPEARANCE: ambar color and slightly hazy. médium ivory head with médium retention. TASTE: medium stale malt flavor and caramelized. médium bitterness with a semi-dry and bitter finish. PALATE: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: already oxidized. demands re-tasting.
