Rogue Double Chocolate Stout is a thick black liquid with a fluffy, foamy brown head and some rainbow bubbles. The head stays put and coats the glass nicely. It has a sweet chocolate aroma. It smells like a fondu pot. It has a smooth, soft, full body with a clean, dry finish. Wow! It has a super chocolate flavor! It’s slightly sweet and slightly bitter and it all seems to come from the chocolate. There’s a possible hint of licorice and coffee. I’m a big fan of their regular Chocolate Stout and this is just more of a good thing.

Excellent aroma and taste. This became an instant favorite. You will not be disappointed if you like Stouts and chocolate. dumontn (530) - St. Joseph, Michigan, USA - NOV 24, 2011
Pours pitch black with long lasting brown head. Aroma is chocolate cake. Pure, unadulterated chocolate cake. Taste is Portillo’s chocolate cake, Hershey’s chocolate syrup, and a hint of coffee and hop bitterness to balance. Body is full, creamy, low carbonation, chocolatey slightly roasty finish. Overall, this is the best chocolate beer I’ve ever had. Seriously tastes like a chocolate cake in a glass. If you like chocolate, buy this without hesitation. noctivagans (16) - - NOV 10, 2012
Amazing. Best stout I’ve ever drank. Roasty, malty, hints of hops, and perfect chocolaty aftertaste. Rogue has done it’s again...

This is by far the best chocolate stout I have ever tasted. Draft, poured into an American pint glass.
Appearance: Opaque black with one finger of thick chocolate milk colored head.
Aroma: A roasty cocoa and coffee scent.
Taste: A strong semi-sweet chocolate flavor, with roasted coffee undertones. The after taste is exactly like that of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Palate: Thick and milky, leaves the mouth coated with a pleasant semi-sweet chocolate flavor.
This is the tastiest beer I have had in a long time. I will definitely be buying some whenever I see it again. Ruddles (28) - - FEB 18, 2013

What an aroma, bitter chocolate taste and just a little little sweetness in the end. Perfect balance, awesome beer! chucklemation (1747) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - DEC 26, 2013
Jet black with a healthy tan foam head. Smells and tastes like delicious chocolate. Has a light bitter and creamy finish. Excellent. Bruds (45) - - AUG 30, 2014
Delicious. One of my favorites. Pours jet black. Can’t see through it. Very little head. Aroma of chocolate, tastes of chocolate, finishes sweet. kpresley77 (147) - Jackson, Georgia, USA - AUG 28, 2010
My taste in beer has really evolved in the last two years since I’ve been on ratebeer and started trying different beers. I used to hate stouts because of the roast flavor but stouts can be so diverse and different. The aroma is Chocolate and light roast malt. If you close your eyes it smells just like a cup of mocha coffee. First taste is sweet, roast and chocolate. The finish is a little bit bitter but Chocolate still lingers. Top 3 for me!
