3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. The pour was a medium brown with an average sized (1-2 fingers) almost beige creamy head that was mostly diminishing and had fair lacing.
The aroma started out with a nice scent of spruce hops and a hint of citrus but quickly became overpowered by toasted caramel malts and a sweet moldy yeast with notes of raisons, plums and brown sugar.
The taste at first sip was lightly sweet and malty with a nice hint of caramel and brown sugar then progressed into a slightly bitterer flavor with a dose of fruit at the end. The flavor was left to linger for a nice long time, bringing out just a little more of the hop characteristic in this brew.
Mouthfeel was just above light in body and dry in texture at first but finished a tad bit watery with a very mild carbonation.
Overall a unique tasting Ale with the sweet and bitter flavors complimenting each other quite well.
From old tasting notes. Deep reddish brown color. Creamy beige head. Spicy malt nose. Delicious bittersweet toasted malt flavor upfront. Complex sprucy hop finish. Long dry aftertaste very tasty and flavorful. john44 (3300) - SW London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 1, 2017
Draft Third of a Pint at GBBF 2010 (Day 4), Earl’s Court, London Aug 2010 - Hazy but OK. Reddish-copper in colour. Very Hoppy; Resinous piney and earthy hops. Malty; grainy malts, roasty, caramel. Fruity; citrus grapefruit. Piney hops dominate over sweet grainy malts. Dry bitter hoppy finish. Very drinkable. Decent. (2010-08)

Bought in a 22 oz. bomber. Perhaps I obtained an old bottle or it may be that I simply cannot connect with this one. I do not know. It pours a nice dark amber with a fantastic egg shell foam that lasts a good long while. Drops down from there.Scent is malty with a bit of woodiness. The beer tastes of biscuit and a light hop tone that leaves quickly. I detect a dryness with a slight bitterness at the end. Hard to try this one again. hauxe (893) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - DEC 24, 2015
Took rating from old notes. Refreshing, medium bodied beer with a lasting frothy head. Nice hops balance. Further notes pending re-rating. Viper666 (6034) - Richelieu, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 22, 2015

aromas of herbal, piney and some citrusy hops, some oakey sweetness and dark caramel. - Dark caramel-vanilla-oak deepness beautifully balanced with citrusy, herbal overtones with a tiny tart hint of plumwine and a moderate bitterness. bubblehouse (1569) - louisville, Kentucky, USA - APR 1, 2015
