Bottle. Poured a black color with a large frothy brown head that was mostly lasting and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted bitter flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Standout drinkable brew.

Lubiere (13898) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 9, 2014
A deep deep dark lager with a thick frothy dark brown head. In aroma, interesting mix of soy sauce, chocolate malt, caramel, quite nice. In mouth, a nice sweetish chocolate with peated notes, coffee grind, lightly smoked, quite nice. Bomber.

Drake (13724) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 21, 2010
22 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours black with a very dark brown medium sized dense creamy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of chocolate, chocolate, cocoa, more chocolate, roasted malts, bitter leaf and citrus hop finish. Taste is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, leafy hops and a bit of a lactic note. Medium bodied and quite smooth. This is a hit. As much as I can’t stand Rogue the company, their beer is starting to win me over. Slowly.

Dogbrick (13003) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 10, 2010
Sample at Rogue Ales Distillery & Public House. The beer pours nearly black with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Strong roasty aroma consisting of coffee and malt, plus some dark chocolate. Full body with flavors of charred malt, coffee, cocoa and hops. The finish is dry and roasty with a mocha aftertaste. Very good overall.
