On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a very dark brown with a small tan head that diminishes quickly to nothing. The aroma is a roasted malt with coffee and chocolate. Thin mouthfeel with a dry malt and chocolate with a lingering dry finish. A very good black lager from Rogue.

22 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours black with a very dark brown medium sized dense creamy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of chocolate, chocolate, cocoa, more chocolate, roasted malts, bitter leaf and citrus hop finish. Taste is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, leafy hops and a bit of a lactic note. Medium bodied and quite smooth. This is a hit. As much as I cant stand Rogue the company, their beer is starting to win me over. Slowly.

Sample at Rogue Ales Distillery & Public House. The beer pours nearly black with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Strong roasty aroma consisting of coffee and malt, plus some dark chocolate. Full body with flavors of charred malt, coffee, cocoa and hops. The finish is dry and roasty with a mocha aftertaste. Very good overall.
