22oz bottle. extremely black under a large dark brown head. oily pour. robust milk chocolate aroma. low hop presence. flavor is chalky and roasty with lots of chocolate. a unique refreshing palate that takes the best of both worlds(lager/ale), almost light bodied, but yet full of dark flavor. i can sort of taste a zesty lager in the distance near the finish. one of the best schwarzbier’s i’ve tasted. Bomber: Pour jet black with a thick fluffy brown head, rich chocolate and roasted coffee in the aroma, starts and ends bitter, medium bodied, playful carbonation, rich chocolate ending with a touch of smoke. An excellent beer. jmohno (1620) - Iowa, USA - MAY 17, 2011
I thought it was an extremely great beer.Im not big on stouts and only have liked a few porters but havent tried a ton of porters either but this was a refreshing kind of lighter stout tasting lager. Can tast some of the tart/sour from the lager along with a good chocolate some roast some vanilla and just a nice pleasant taste from start to finish nice smooth good mouthfeel good body nice light ending with roast and chocolate. also had a milk chocolate head. I would take this over 3/4 of the stouts ive tried before. bpreo (2840) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - JUL 26, 2013
Lot’s of delicious roasty flavors and malt. Very clean and crisp and lightly refreshing. Exceptional beer. A must try.

A very nice black lager. The dry aftertaste actually tastes a little bit like dirt. Opaque black, dark tan head, wonderful roasted aroma. JahNoth (1039) - Rochester, New York, USA - JAN 23, 2010
Off the charts black appearance - with a gigantic rocky head and oozing lace. Char on the nose with soft creaminess and slight caramel. Very roasty for a schwarz (not a bad thing), lots of charred malts and coffee, followed by a quick middle and spritzy finish with some wrigleys gum at the swallow. Lingering roast. You want to just have another taste - very seductive...and delicious. bluejacket74 (1992) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - FEB 6, 2010
22 ounce bottle. Served in a pilsner glass, the beer pours a very dark brown color with about an inch and a half frothy brown head. Head retention is good, and there’s also a lot of lacing left behind on the glass. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate and some coffee. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like burnt/charred and roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee and some hops noticable in the finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit creamy and is well carbonated. Drinkability is very good, it’s smooth and quite enjoyable to drink. I think this brew seems more like a robust porter than a schwarzbier, but I’m not complaining at all. I think this is a pretty good brew, it’s worth a try if you come across it. Bomber. Just about the darkest, thickest pour I’ve seen with a dense head that nearly matched it. The aroma picked up burnt black patent, chocolate, and charred, smoky notes accented by toasty barley and fresh earthy hoppage.. balance was perfect. The flavor held serve.. burnt black patent and chocolate again, this time joined by coffee grounds.. dry black pepper, pine, and earthy bitterness around.. vanilla and smoky notes rounded it out through the finish. Light-medium bodied, dry, and roasty on the palate.. well-balanced with a memorable finish. Absolutely excellent beer that could’ve passed for a porter. hayduke (5218) - Eureka, California, USA - FEB 28, 2010
This 22 oz bomber came from Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA. It poured a used motor oil black with a very large and foamy dark tan head with good sticky lacing rings. Very attractive. Nose is of roasted nuts with chocolate. Good robust body plus with smooth carbonation and very slick on the tongue. The flavor is chocolate at first and then coffee kicks in, and then as it moves to the finish it shows roasted nuts, smoke, and a little bitterness. This is a really good schwarztbier, and one of the best beers I have ever seen come out of Rogue!
