Formerly Chatoe Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale.

The newest addition to the Chatoe Rogue series is Pumpkin Patch Ale, a beer made using fresh pumpkins grown in a patch that borders Rogue’s 42 acre hop yard. The pumpkins are picked, loaded into Rogue’s farm truck, driven immediately 77 miles to our brewery in Newport, quickly roasted, and pitched into the brew kettle to create a batch of Pumpkin Patch Ale.

Aroma is cinnamon/cardamon/spices/black pepper. The flavor is cloves, mild cardamon, cinnamon, pumpkin, malts and a mix of very light citrus/fruit and slight heat/warming in the finish.

22oz bottle with a new label. Clear dark copper hue. Decent allspice and pumpkin nose. Same in flavor - needed more pumpkin sweetness & body.

October 18th, 2013 - Rogue’s contribution to the Pumpkin Beer wave is a pretty beer. It looks like living amber, bubbling with activity, but deep, dark and almost flirtatious with its vegetal blush. The aroma is alluring, too, nice and restrained, but giving off clear hints of the gourd. Underneath, and excavated with a little aggressive sniffing is the pumpkin pie sweetness, minus the crust of said pie. Sweet, but not candied, and not too much sugar. Of all the elements of a good pumpkin pie, this is most closely related to the canned pumpkin, but lower, slower, and a little more rubinesque. The carbonation is very healthy, and helps prop up a heavy body, although you can see its knees wobbling a bit. The aftertaste is dry, focused on the botanical touches of the pumpkin, like a cooked slice of pumpkin flesh sprinkled with sugar. And the foretaste is sweeter, though harder to catch through that first rush of bubbles. The vegetable bitterness and herbal quality is laced in there with a dash of sugar. All throughout the mouthfeel is really doing an excellent job of pushing the beer’s positive qualities, while the flavor is also solid, but just a little overshadowed by an excellent palate. All in all, this is a great pumpkin beer, and outstrips a lot of the little orange bottles that sprout in liquor stores around this time.

Pour from the bottle is clear and orange in color with a medium white head, the aroma is spiced, pumpkin, malts and a little bit of cinnamon, the taste is spice forward with a little vanilla and hints a pumpkin at the end. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is like you ate a slice of pumpkin pie few minutes ago.

Poured from a Bomber into a pint glass. Pumpkin beer is one of my favorite styles of beer. This brew has a great pumpkin aroma and flavor. A well balanced blend of pumpkin and hops. I look forward to the autumn just for this beer.

Appearance: pours with a medium to large light tan head that settles pretty quickly, the beer is a very nice dark amber almost brown color Aroma: pumpkin, butter, heavy cream, Taste: has a nice pumpkin flavor throughout, it's not super sweet but still has sweetness to it, Graham cracker on the finish, Palate: light to medium mouthfeel, minimal aftertaste, average carbonation Overall: pretty pleased with this beer, the pumpkin is the dominant flavor and aroma, not so heavy or sweet where drinking this as a session beer would be a problem ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle sample at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks beerandbeyond. Aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, cardmaom and some pumpkin. Sweet flavor with caramel and winter spices. Medium-bodied.

On draft at the Hop. This is a pretty tasty pumpkin ale, but a little watery like other Rogue releases unfortunately. I tasted some ginger and other spices. Pretty dry.
