tap. reddish brown with small head. i’m completely unfamiliar with the style, and this is rather odd. medium malt base with some spicy rye. earthy. doesn’t work for me. Ester_ (126) - Quebec, CANADA - MAY 5, 2014
Brown-red color with a small persistent foam collar. Aromas of spices, smoke, malt and caramel. Flavors of malt, roast, barley sugar. Couleur brun-roux avec un petit col de mousse persisant. Nez d’épices, de fumé, de malt et de caramel. Saveurs de malt, grillé et sucre d’orge. bley7211 (22) - - MAY 2, 2014
Poured from tap into a pint glass. Very little head. Kind of a plasticy taste. Wasn't terrible to where I couldn't finish, but wasn't thrilled about it. MrChopin (4304) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - APR 27, 2014
Transparent cherry sepia, thin white ring. Stale oat and sugar nose, faint rye peppery spic but forgettable. Flavor is worse, tons of sugar and playdoh, sticky and empty in the end where toast and sugars combat for what’s left of this sweet emptiness. Rye is inexpressive, underattenuated, no complexity, wort-esque. swanmann (776) - Nompton, Oklahoma, USA - APR 27, 2014
From the bomber: it’s dark iced tea brown with pale, well-sustained foam. It smells sweet of cherry, toffee, caramel, almost wine-y. The flavor is nice and caramelly sweet, rich, with a nice rye bite. Full-flavored, medium mouthfeel, lightly creamy. Really a nice balance of sweet and medicinal characteristics of the grain.

650 ml bottle, thanks olio. Pours a dark murky amber colour. Aroma of red berries, bread and some sweetness. Flavour of sweet caramel, earthiness, mushrooms, red berries, bread and grass. Spiciness as well. Medium bodied and smooth malty finish. Nice balance and quite unique, but weird. olio (10434) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 21, 2014
65 cl bottle @ Timo A.60minuteman (1764) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 19, 2014
Pours clear dark copper color with a small head. Quite weird on the nose, some dark berries, rye, caramel malts, mild grain and faint hops. Flavor is fruity and there’s a lot of carbonation, gooseberries, malts, rye, some toffee and more malts. Very lively carbonated palate, feels quite light considering the abv. Somewhat unique. Lacks something essential though.
A light brown appearance with tan two finger head. Smell is hop, malt, yeast, rye, a general earthiness. Taste is subdued and clever. Slight hop approach, counteracted by the grains. Slightly toasted. Chuckaduck (674) - Highland Heights, Kentucky, USA - APR 18, 2014
Bottle. 4/18/14. Pours dark amber brown with a fluffy off-white head. Aroma is Earthy, lightly fruity, grains, rye, wood, bready, toffee, subtle aroma of soured stone fruit. Taste is a mish-mash of grains, nutty, earthy, bitter herbs; finish of slight bitterness and taste of wood and grain. Taste is watery and less than impressive. Light lacing throughout. Watery mouth feel. Medium-low carbonation. This beer is sadly unimpressive and not remarkably interesting. An unsuccessful experiment. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - MAR 23, 2014
Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a brown colored body with a lighter hazier looking reddishness around the edges, two finger white foamy head that dies and leaves some foamy clingy lacing in its wake.
The smell had spicy rye, smokey, malty, fruity yeasty sort of hops, intricate in a way but different than other beers I’ve had in my life.
The taste is spicy yeasty flavoring that dominates but lets in the rye and the fruit combine and coming through in a smoky way, smoky yeasty aftertaste, slightly dry yet fruity and some light rye in the finish.
The palate is about a medium, sessionable - maybe. Carbonation is good to me.
Overall, I say good for the most part and worthy of more pours.
