Dark amber in color, clear with a thin head. Nice malt build and hops balance. Decent amount of smoked aroma and flavors. Very nice beer. pintbypint (3641) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 31, 2013
650ml brown bottle. Deep amber pour with a massive off white head, creamy bead, good lacing. Nose has trace of smoke, rye and caramel. Taste has caramel, grain, rye spice. Dry finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Smooth and easy drinking rye ale. bulldogops (2495) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 23, 2013
8oz sample at Beer Rev purely out of my growing interest in rye grain bevvys. This was a deep coppery brown coloured pour with a mild tan foam that faded to a ring. Nose was teddy graham cookies, chocolate, toffee, and vegetable oil. Mild alcohol warmth and carbonation (well disguised at 6.6%) Taste is lagery, a mild peppery smokiness from the rye grain, mild toffee and caramel malt sweetness, but a load of noble hop grassiness. Finishes smooth, and super light - not at all what was expected of the big dark brew in front of me. Worth revisiting. JDBaker11058 (2206) - Maryland, USA - AUG 21, 2013
Appearance: deep clear amber with a silky, creamy, dense light tan head that stubbornly remains as a thick cap, almost with a cask ale or nitro pour look. Aroma: graham crackers, toffee, black pepper, hint of smoke, a barest whisper of wet cardboard. Taste: malty and sweet, slightly smoky/peppery as it warms (hello, rye!), caramel, tobacco, and a bit of almost English-feeling hops. Finish: smooth, slightly tangy, with a bit of sweet heat lasting. Notes: I love rye beers, and this one was no exception. Drank half the 22 oz bomber and used the other half to slow-cook some beef stew. Was not disappointed in the result.

Accessible, bien faite, bonne.

Bottle:   Deep brown, large foamy tannish head, nice lacing.   Pale bready nose, slightly sweaty, pale hops.   Flat maltiness on the tongue, albeit smooth.   Not a lot about this is bright.   Trouble getting
any Rye out of it.   Slight Rye as it warms, but its minor.   Body and mouthfeel are rather smooth.   Soft rye and hops as it finishes, malty, slight sweet, with a soft hop bite.   Good, but nothing special.   Was
hoping for more Rye. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - AUG 1, 2013
22oz bottle pours with a clear deep amber body supporting a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up mildly roasted malts, spicy melanoidin malts and a modest smooth smokiness. The taste has similar notes as noted in the nose with sort of spicy melanoidin malts, spicy rye bread and some smooth smokiness. Pretty nice stuff but the flavors seem to be brighter than needed. bigbish (712) - California, USA - JUL 30, 2013
I had this beer on my oregon vacation a few weeks back. I didn’t write down tasting notes, just an overall score, so here it is. glennmastrange (2870) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JUL 28, 2013
Bottle. Light to moderate dark bread and toasted for the malt, pine resin for the hops, faint dough for the yeast, with hints of cinnamon, cola and tobacco. Head is average size, frothy/ creamy, light beige with good lacing and ismostly lasting. Color is hazy mohogany. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly bitter. Palate is medium, slick, with a lively carbonation. Nice hoppy aspect to this tasty Rye Beer. HoppyBrewnette (16) - - JUL 24, 2013
Very subtle aroma.
Light effervescent mouth feel.
Smokey rye flavors. Slightly creamy.
The beer is well balance just a little to light for my taste.
