2/10/13. 22oz bottle from Grassroots Natural Market. Lightly hazed brown pour, deep reds under the light, with a 3-finger, thick khaki head that cuts in half but laces significantly. Very bready aroma, quite malty, with a wisp of smoke, caramel, rye, and something that reminds me of a smooth lager. Malty entry with a touch of acidity, sweetness, rye, caramel, and again something that almost reminds me of a dark Mexican or Vienna lager. Not bad. 22oz bottle pours with a clear deep amber body supporting a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up mildly roasted malts, spicy melanoidin malts and a modest smooth smokiness. The taste has similar notes as noted in the nose with sort of spicy melanoidin malts, spicy rye bread and some smooth smokiness. Pretty nice stuff but the flavors seem to be brighter than needed. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - NOV 14, 2012
22. Thanks j! Pours a slightly hazy dark amber with a loose and creamy tan head. Big earthy fallen leaves nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Toasty earthy fallen leaves mid palate. Kinda maerzen ish. PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 28, 2013
Tampa, Fl - Total Wine - 22 oz bomber. Dark brown tannin colored pour with a frothy, bubbly khaki colored head. Earthy aroma with some nutmeg accents, a hint of root beer. Flavor is subdued but hearty. Pick up some light anise seed, a hint of minty rye, a bit of potting soil, just a hint of unsweetened chocolate. Mouthfeel has a nice softness to it. Not one of Rogue’s finer specimens, but does in a pinch. lusikka (7813) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 21, 2014
650 ml bottle, thanks olio. Pours a dark murky amber colour. Aroma of red berries, bread and some sweetness. Flavour of sweet caramel, earthiness, mushrooms, red berries, bread and grass. Spiciness as well. Medium bodied and smooth malty finish. Nice balance and quite unique, but weird.

Head is initially average sized, frothy/creamy, light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is dark amber.
Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately hoppy (herbs/grass, resin, apricot), with notes of black tea, autumn leaves and tree bark, medicine/Listerine/sage, earth.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, syrupy/gooey/creamy texture, lively/soft carbonation, lightly alcoholic, metallic.
One of the weirdest mouthfeels of any beer I’ve ever encountered...it’s almost like syrup (but thankfully carbonated), very thick and goopy. Combined with the metallic aftertaste, I must say it’s pretty unpleasant. The aroma is interesting and autumnal, but there is a medicinal twang I’m not very fond of...but good for the most part. Nice lasting head, fairly good flavor balance. Hard to get past the strange gooey mouthfeel, though, so in the end, sadly, it’s pretty much undrinkable. Bottle. pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma of rye, spices, malt, fruitiness and bread. Flavor is sweet and malty with some rye, spices, bread and malt. Medium body, average carbonation. larsga (7539) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 17, 2013
Small beige head. Deep red body with light carbonation. Roasty earthy banana aroma with licorice and blackberry notes. Taste much the same with spice notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish spicy rye and banana aftertaste with bubblegum and wood notes. Unusual and interesting. (0.2l draft at Crow Bar, Oslo.) Idiosynkrasie (7516) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - MAR 23, 2013
650ml bottle. Cloudy brown colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Slightly spicy grainy and dark malty aroma with a peppermint touch. Taste is grainy, minimally spicy, moderately dry, minimally grassy, again a touch of peppermint; fine pored carbonation. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 10, 2013
Bomber. Poured medium reddish-amber with a creamy, well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up sweet smoked malts, caramel, and molasses with accents of earth and toasted rye.. sweet overall and well-balanced. The flavor found mostly sweet smoked malts and caramel at the core, with spicy rye, grainy earth, and tart malty notes around.. more tacky and bitter as it warmed up, with a lot of sharp smoke character and a bit of fruit. Medium-bodied with smooth, rolling carbonation on the palate.. great feel until it got messy at the end.
