This was a shared tasting with Strykzone on Facebook Chat as we share so many beers together this way. . Poured a cloudy opaque amber-brown with a moderate beige head and good lacing. Nose is rye, wood, and smoke, with a little plum. Light to medium body. Flavor is rye forward but there is a lot of complexity here with an earthy background, smoke, ripe fruit, and a lot of graininess. Chocolate finally appears. The finish is quite dry wit floral hops and low bitterness. This is a complex beer and at first the unusual combination of flavors was a bit of a surprise, but as I got closer to the end it became quite enjoyable as the fruit and chocolate pulled even with the rye and a little spice appears.. rumproasts (5575) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - MAY 22, 2014
tap. reddish brown with small head. i’m completely unfamiliar with the style, and this is rather odd. medium malt base with some spicy rye. earthy. doesn’t work for me. nearbeer (5559) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 15, 2014
650 ml. Lightly cloudy dark brown with a lasting film of bubbles. Nose is dark toasted bread, chocolate and molasses. Tastes of dark toast, sourish molasses, spicy rye and touches of smoke and citrus. Medium body has medium carbonation and is to the sweet side. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - DEC 23, 2012

Appearance: Dispensed a muddled, opaque brown body with a fourth of an inch of fine, dusty white suds.
Smell: This isn’t exactly what I had anticipated. Burning rubber, molten plastic notes. All in all, it’s highly displeasing and begs the question: "they really let this monstrosity leave the brewery?"
Taste: Roasted cigarette butts, a heavily phenolic smoke character giving a flavor of burnt rubber doorstops, lacquered bandaids, and a growing hint of six bucks and fifty cents absolutely wasted.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.
Overall: Appallingly bad.
Soft copper brown pour with one finger of dirty white head. Ruby highlights. Super spicy flavor, hops are there. Citrusy and raw fruit notes coming through. Nose is awful, smells like something gone bad. Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - JUN 11, 2013
Bottle at De Molen @ 2nd tuesday tasting, hosted by dEnk. Copper sunset pour, thin off-white head. Aroma is slightly sweaty, spicy, sweet malts, some funky tones and strange fruityness. Flavor is sweet malts, some licorice, spicy and completely off balance. Quite bad. daje (4436) - NORWAY - APR 24, 2013
Tap at Schouskjelleren, february 22nd 2013. Dark red bodied with a low beige head. Aroma of rye, vanilla, pepper. Taste keeps the vanilla and rye flavours and adds a tad fruityness with a refreshing peach bite and a nice bitterness to keep it company. Good :)
