Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. This beer pours dark brown / amber and is almost a gusher. Very cool lacing. In the aroma I get rye, brewers grain, and a little wood. The flavor is also rye. It is not spicy but more of rye grain. A bit of spice is in the hops, however. Just a hint of chocolate. That wood and a little dark fruit and then some earth. This was not a perfect beer but it had a lot of really fun stuff going on. So much complexity for the style made it a lot of fun to drink. malrubius (2859) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - MAR 23, 2014

650 ml. Lightly cloudy dark brown with a lasting film of bubbles. Nose is dark toasted bread, chocolate and molasses. Tastes of dark toast, sourish molasses, spicy rye and touches of smoke and citrus. Medium body has medium carbonation and is to the sweet side. ARH (1125) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 21, 2014
On tap, poured into a sampler glass. The aroma is heavy with rye bread and not much else. It’s a dark, clear, orange brown color with a thick white head and cloudy surface that leaves behind an abundant dense, web lace. The taste is a balanced blend of medium sweet and bitter. The thin textured beer has a soft, creamy carbonation. The medium body is a rich, toasted rye flavor that finishes clean and crisp with a light touch of citrus.

Odd ball. The aroma is superb. It would rate an easy eight if it were just a bit stronger. Bread, caramel, hay, cereal, coffee, nuts, all are present. Resin. Yeast is dough, barnyard, basement aromas, leaves. Banana, butterscotch, clove, cooked vegetables, licorice, raisin, vanilla... Fuck it.... Aroma is an eight. It pours a gorgeous copper brown/black with a nice tan/off white head. Really impressive. It tastes good but way weighted to sour... a downfall. Palate is smooth, standard, and slick but with stinging lingering bitter. Sight and smell are top tier but consumption doesn’t live up to expectations. Glad I tried it. Would drink again. Would not buy again.

Tasting sample at the brewery: Pours amber with a nice head and good CO2 release. Low spice aroma, roasted malt, low hop profile. Taste is salty, bitter and spicy. Dry, bitter and unique on the palate. Very interesting, could not drink a bunch though. Foffern (1877) - Bodø, NORWAY - MAR 7, 2013
On tap at Crowbar, Oslo. Pours a hazy deep brown colour with a khaki medium head. Aroma of rye bread, dark berries, leather, wood and some forest. A great balanced taste with oak, leather and some cinnamon. Has a soft and rich mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A rich and well-balanced ale. Dark murky reddish bronze. Decent sized beige head. Smells toasty, earthy, even a little bit smoky. Pretty full bodied. Flavor is a lot of earthy malts, some coffee and smoky, and a dry, woody finish. Cuso (8616) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - JUN 15, 2013
