On tap poured brown in color with a huge tan head with great lacing on the glass. The aroma had some chocolate and roast dominated by sweet hazelnut. The taste was mainly nutty with some small caramel tones and no noticeable hops. Overall a good tasting beer that is smooth and surprisingly not overpowering.

On tap. This beer was a very good night cap, rich with good amount of sweetness but crisp finish

Hazelnut brown, hazelnut & chocolate in aroma. Slight malty. Really nutty with notes of chocolate. Good bitterness in finish.

Pours to dark mahogany with a meringue-ish head. Hazelnut aroma with plum and vanilla. Flavor is more hazelnut, some red grape skins, nutella, some woodsy scotch tones. Winey mouthfeel, heavy but smooth. Long chocolate malt finish. Quite complex and very good brown ale.

Cold on tap at Redbones: Pours a dark opaque brown color with a small amount of off-white bubbles around the edges. Aroma and taste are of hazelnut and roasted malts. A very rich dark ale.

Bottled. Brownish amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma of caramel, candy sugar, toffee and alcohol. Flavour is plum, grass, alcohol, caramel, some flowery hops and sugar. Quite much in it, and also very wellbalanced.

Another personal favourite. I reckon it is not everyones cup of tea, but I do so fancy the slight sweetness and clear Nutella overtones in the taste. Some malt, as well, and so very smooth. I could session this ale for a fornight.

The pinnacle of the brown ale world...draft at The Usual Suspects in Asheville, NC many times during my college career...intense caramel and hazelnut flavor, every brown ale should aspire to this masterpiece.
