Reviewed 2/20/13. 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass. A: Pours a dark chestnut color. The head is a one finger light mocha shade featuring a good texture, but not much retention. S: Strongly nutty - not just in terms of hazelnut, but other variants like almonds, walnuts, and pecans come through. Aromatically, its pretty much just peanut butter-esque with not much else to give any other depth. But that one note? Its extremely inviting and enjoyable. T: Much sweeter than the aroma, and veering dangerously to artificial in terms of how it comes off. The flavor profile is hazelnut...and thats about it. Decidedly one note, and that solitary note has flaws to it. I dont hate it by any stretch, though. M: The general texture is kind of thin and even insubstantial. Despite that, theres a lot of coarse finishing astringency that comes off slightly clashing with the sweetness and limp body. Hell, it even manages to be both watery AND sugary in its finish. Only thing it does right here is ease of drinkability. O: Not particularly likable aside from the aroma; Im glad I only bought a single of these and wouldnt buy it again. Having said that, its a good choice for hazelnut lovers - because lets face it, the flavor is nothing BUT that. If this and Frangelic Mountain Brown have taught me anything, its that hazelnut beers give off great aromatic qualities...and not so great flavor profiles.

Very interesting beer. There is a subtle hazelnut flavor that come through on a nice background of malt with just enough hops to not make this obnoxiously sweet.

35,5 cl bottle. Dark red/brown color with not much of a beige head. Aroma is pure hazelnut, especially when stirred. Also malt and peanut butter, some toffee, a little citrus in there. Taste is along the same lines, but with more citrus and the hazelnut comes in very strongly at the finish. Not the biggest fan of hazelnut, but that part works pretty alright here anyway. A bit too much of a brown ale/IPA hybrid though, Id prefer more body, even more malt and less hops (even though its not bitter at all). Beyond that, its a solid brew, pretty high drinkability especially if youre into hazelnut.
