Reviewed 2/20/13. 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass. A: Pours a dark chestnut color. The head is a one finger light mocha shade featuring a good texture, but not much retention. S: Strongly nutty - not just in terms of hazelnut, but other variants like almonds, walnuts, and pecans come through. Aromatically, it’s pretty much just peanut butter-esque with not much else to give any other depth. But that one note? It’s extremely inviting and enjoyable. T: Much sweeter than the aroma, and veering dangerously to artificial in terms of how it comes off. The flavor profile is hazelnut...and that’s about it. Decidedly one note, and that solitary note has flaws to it. I don’t hate it by any stretch, though. M: The general texture is kind of thin and even insubstantial. Despite that, there’s a lot of coarse finishing astringency that comes off slightly clashing with the sweetness and limp body. Hell, it even manages to be both watery AND sugary in its finish. Only thing it does right here is ease of drinkability. O: Not particularly likable aside from the aroma; I’m glad I only bought a single of these and wouldn’t buy it again. Having said that, it’s a good choice for hazelnut lovers - because let’s face it, the flavor is nothing BUT that. If this and Frangelic Mountain Brown have taught me anything, it’s that hazelnut beers give off great aromatic qualities...and not so great flavor profiles.

Pours brown, amber and translucent with a fizzy white and tan head, slightly lingering, with a hint of hazelnut and malt on the nose. Tastes mellow, nutty and of malt and hazelnut. There is a hint of sweetness with a light to medium body and slightly more than minimal carbonation. Easy to drink.

Pours translucent dark brown, fizzy, with a medium off-white head and some sticky lacing. Very rich aroma of hazelnuts and bread. Tastes quite sweet with strong of roasted malts, hazelnut, bread, caramel, and mild hops. Very smooth and creamy, sticky feel, average carbonation, long finish, lingering hazelnuts. Overall an excellent brown ale, very nutty and tasty, surely one of the best in its style!

Zapach słodu, trochę mdły. Orzech laskowy skryty gdzieś w tej mdłości. W smaku wodniste, słodkie, jakby lekko maślane. Puste i mdłe.

Draft, drunk while talking with John. Brown colour with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted hazelnut, malt, roasted chocolate. Mainly sweet with flavour of roasted hazelnut, roasted chocolate, light malt, slight hoppy. Light bitter aftertaste that goes well with the sweet taste. Quite thick and flavourfull. Warming alcohol feeling in the throat. Heaby and full beer. Really good.

Kaatuu lasiin kastanjanruskeana. Tuoksussa karamellisuutta ja pähkinää. Aavistus myös luumua. Maussa ei niinkään enää pähkinää, vaan hiilihapotus tuo hieman raikkautta. Loppumaku on greippimäinen. Helposti juotava brown ale, jossa pähkinä ei kuitenkaan ole pääosassa.
