Bottle. Poured a nice rich clear medium to dark brown with an average sized light brown head that was mostly diminishing leaving just a little residue hanging around allowing for good lacing. The aroma was of a nutty caramel malt and a doughy yeast with a nice note of hazelnut, brown sugar and a ever so light touch of coffee. It tasted lightly sweet with hints of caramel and coffee in the beginning. Then it matured into a very malty-nutty flavor with the hazelnut being the most pronounced at the finish, although the flavor could of lasted a little longer on the taste buds. Mouthfeel was medium in body and creamy yet slightly watery in texture as alot of brown ales can be with the carbonation being ever so perfectly soft. Overall a very nice malty nut brown ale, this happens to be my favorite style and this brew fits it very well indeed.

650 mL bottle served in a shaker- cant believe I havent had this one... poured a darkened brown color with maroon tint when held to a light source, razor thin white ring about the vessel for a head with very minimal lacing, aroma of caramel, various nuts, and a touch of honey. Hits the mouth with a light medium body, malt is in place as expected, middle has some sweetness and heft to it, finish has an oddly drying but pleasurable experience. A bit all over the map, but good.

Appearance: clear amber-brown with one fat finger of dense beige head, good retention and moderate lacing. (4/5) Aroma: hazelnut, peanut, caramel. (8/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium body tending lightly watery, moderate carbonation, slightly sticky medium duration finish. (3/5) Having just recently tried their Hazelutely Choctabulous, I thought Id go back and re-review its 60% component, since the last time I tried it was more than three years ago, when frankly I didnt have the first clue what I was doing. And, not surprisingly, my score from back then was excessively high. Upon sober re-review, I conclude that this is slightly one-dimensional (all nut, all the time), slightly too sweet, and prone to a slight tendency to thinness in the finish. I can see how the addition of the Chocolate Stout (which I will be trying next) remediates those issues to make the Hazelutely Choctabulous as enjoyable as it is. (14/20)

Bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a light beige foam. Aroma is hazelnut, strong toasted malts, caramel, chocolate. Light body, a bit thin but never losing its game, still kicking on that light nutty sweetness. Soft carbonation to drag it all down into a bitter-sweet caramel palate. Could be a tad drier, but otherwise a really nice late night downer.

Bottle. Clear dark amber body, small beige head with average retention. Aroma of buckwheat honey, toffee, hazelnut waffles and vanilla beans. Taste of roasted hazelnuts, caramel, cookie dough, hints of herbs and roasted malt. Considering the style, this is very flavorful.
