Above and beyond an India Pale Ale--I2PA is radically hopped with an intense aroma and hop bitterness. Unfiltered and aged for 9 months before it leaves the brewery--not for the faint of heart. I2PA is brewed with two-row Pipkin Pale malts, Saaz, Cascade and Northwest Golding hops.

Amber color. Massive caramel and grapefruity nose. Full body massive bitterness, the citrus notes just linger forever. A touch of sweet maltiness. Just a fantastically put together beer.

On tap at Craft Cafe Imazato. Nice marmalade colour, and a solid IIPA aroma of pine and citrus. Strong spiky hop flavour, not as fruity as I thought it would be, very pine forward, big malt body backing it up. The more I go on the pine becomes a bit too much, like sucking sap from a tree. A touch too assertive, dominating the other flavours. Something I might’ve enjoyed a lot more a few years ago.

A 750ml ceramic and wingtop bottle with no bottled on or best by date. Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass. It poured a hazy amber orange copper colour with a one finger dark-ish cream coloured head that dissipated fairly quickly but left nice lacing. Aromas are sweet caramel malts with juicy orange, tangerine, grapefruit and pine. Much like the aroma, taste was sweet citrus tangerine and orange, some light caramel followed by bitter grapefruit pith and pine. The finish is a nice lasting citrus bitterness. Medium to full bodied with low carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good Double IPA with a good balance between sweet and bitter. A little more carbonation would have been good, but nonetheless still nice.

At first sweet malt then a green hop aroma come from this hazy copper brew that poured thick and has almost no head. The taste is sweet full bodied and hop flavor and bitterness meet together. It's pretty well balanced with a nice bitter aftertaste. No warming from the 9%.

Originally rated on 5/27/08. This was my 1st IIPA have to say i had mixed results. It poured a dark gold/ orangish colored body with a creamy head, aroma of grapefruit was present but not strong. the flavor was strong of malts that overpowered the hops, the citrus all but disappeared. Overall i felt it was an average brew but i will try it again in a few months. Re-rate 11-28-09 on tap at Opal Devines in Austin. Much better the second time around, a nice grapefruit/ floral aroma, chewy mouthfeel. Lots of grapefruit in the flavor. From a 3.2 to a 3.9

On tap at the brewery tap Sf. Aroma is really floral perfume citrus, cleaning product. Mostly clear golden orange coloured pour with a sticky thin white head. Some nice resinous pine on the nose as well. Flavour is full malt base, light caramel, spicy citrus, pine resinous, warming alcohol in the finish. Palate is medium full and sticky, frothy carbonation. Assertive chewy hop bitterness.

Draught at Imazato. Cloudy gold with a kind of soapy head. Hops, malts and citrus. Flavour is very bitter, but well-balanced. Starts with fruity hops, then a big malt hit with a bitter finish.

Tap at Rogue PDX airport pub. Huge citrusy hop aroma with bitter piney hop notes. Pours Amber colored with a thin white head with poor retention and no lacing. Starts with good, bright citrusy hop flavor. Finishes quite dry with a sharp pine resiny hop bitterness that almost ruins the palate. Good, but the finish is quite harsh.

From the tap, the color is clear with an auburn color and a thick white head, the aroma is sharp hops that assault the senses, the taste is hoppy malty and you can taste the roasted notes, the finish is bitter. The mouthfeel is medium to heavy.

Pours a crystal clear amber from a tap. Huge piney hops, some citrus notes, pale malt in the distant background. Big alcohol burn. Good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
